Hi there! My name is Darlene, I live in Kalispell, MT. I am 40 years old and have been married for 23 years to my hubby Mike. We have two great kids that are now 21 and 17. My little farm is in my backyard in downtown Kalispell, I used to worry that my neighbors thought I was crazy...but I am getting over it!
We have 7 chickens, 4 rabbits, a cat a dog a garden and a clothesline. I love to sew, crochet, knit, can, make my own soap, cook from scratch and have a deep interest in the way things were done in yesteryear. I do dream of a proper farm...but feel so blessed to live in Montana and am happy right where I am.
I do have a question?? When signing up to become part of the sisterhood, on the form it says Forum Name and then.. Special Instructions. What kind of special instructions would one be putting in that spot? Thanks for any help!
I am so happy to be a part of this group!! I stumbled across Mary Janes book a few years ago and have dreamily poured through it often ever since
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Darlene!
You live in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been! I am so jealous! My husband and I went on our honeymoon to Glacier and around Flathead Lake almost three years ago and we can't wait to go back! I think that you will fit right in here at the Farm. Sorry I can't help you with your computer question, but I am sure someone else will jump right in! |

Thanks Toni...and I do agree, the Flathead Valley is breath taking and I thank God each morning that I am here.
I was born in San Diego but my parents moved to Kalispell when I was 8 in 1975. I grew up here on a little farm outside of town. After I got married my husband and i moved to Coeur d'Alene Idaho for a while, and then to Naples Florida. We lived in Naples for 12 years and I truly didnt think I would ever make it back to the mountains I so longed for. But here I am! When I wake up and smell that sweet Montana morning...I am just overwhelmed!
So nice to meet you!

Howdy and welcome from Texas Darlene! you sound like my kinda girl! I think you're gonna be real happy here and I know you'll fit right in! As for your question, I have no idea. Sorry. I don't really remember that when I signed up, so I'm no help. You might send an email to the farm and ask. They are great and very quick to get back to you about questions.
Good luck and welcome aboard! ~kate

Hi Darlene!
I just moved from Moscow to Billings! Gee I forget, but Kalispell is a few hours down the road, isn't it? Do you ever come down the Billings way? All our family is in Wyoming so we probably won't "head West" too often, but it would be fun to do a Farmgirl lunch someday!

Hi Alee
Yep I think Billings is about 7 hours drive from Kalispell. Its been a while since we have headed that way, but if we ever do, wouldn't it be fun to have a farm girl lunch!
I was thinking it would be great to meet up with some farmgirls in my area, but see that the Chapter is closed to new members in Kalispell. Would that mean I should open another in Kalispell?
Thanks for all the welcomes! |

Welcome Darlene. You will love this forum. I drove through Montana several times in the early seventies, it is beautiful, those huge sikies are really something, and when night falls, you can see so many stars.
I think the special instructions are for leaving a litttle quote or websites, but then again my name is electricdunce so probably that's not much chance of being correct. But I remember managing to do it, my technique is usually to just press the buttons and see what happens.

DJ, Are you referring to when you first order the sisterhood membership??? I actually think that it is a "spot" where if they ever have coupon deals or specials or if some orders it for someone else you can add it there.. .but just to be sure.. email Gabe @ farmgirlconnection@maryjanesfarm.org... he is the "yoda" of all things computer.... :)

A BIG howdy from Georgia! We too have chickens, 1 rabbit, four dogs, 3 horses and 1 donkey. I also have a very deep interest in the way things were done in primitive/pioneer days. You are my kinda gal! Hope to get to know you better. You will love it here.

Welcome! I loved living in Kalispell, well, except for the gloomy side of winter. I lived there about 6 years and left for work, *sigh* I would love to have gone back once I got my feet but discovered Colorado and an affordable place here. If you ever get up to Columbia Falls and stop at the nursery just going into town on the right tell them Laurie said hi.
There's lots of good information here and fun stories. I hope you meet other farmgirls up there. Laurie
