hello farmgirl friends! It's hot outside so I have retreated inside for today, praying for clouds to appear and it to rain. I am organizing patterns and making some binders for that and filing away instruction books. The studio is messy and I need to clean it up before I work on stuff.

What are you all stitching today?

I'm not stitching, but I am ironing aprons. I received 11 vintage aprons that belonged to my MIL and am posting one a day on my blog.

I also got several lengths of western themed fabrics from her that she got 20 some odd years ago, and I plan to make hubs a quilt from it. Washing and ironing~"trudgery". I made that up~trudge & drudgery~lol

I made headbands yesterday. I got the free pattern from here http://www.heatherbaileydesign.com/HoorayforHeadbands.pdf

I made two for me, one w/ lace accents and the other with sequins and bead accents (can't a working momma be pretty!) and two for my boys who are calling them "ninja bands"...

I only have eight more mini aprons that need ties, and they head off to
Florida tomorrow. I am so glad to have finally thought up a design I like and to get them in not too horribly late.

Hot and foggy here all day, seriously weird.

sounds like you are all getting some wonderful things done. Bonne did you have to mention ironing! I hate it. LOL however if I could iron vintage aprons then it would not be so bad. hugs

I am working on knitted facecloths I guess they are traditionally dishcloths, but I am using them as facecloths or washcloths, I am also teaching my 10 yr old son to make his own. It has been fun. I plan to learn to crochet sometime this summer, I hear it is much easier than knitting. I finished my mini aprons and sent them off to Florida as well. These swaps are so much fun and give me an excuse to make something!

Just finished 2 Amy Butler Lotus Cami tops and the second one went much quicker than the first.

AngiK, sometimes I go into sew and spend all of my time organizing my studio and never get to sewing. It's my own little sanctuary so I want it to feel just right. I can't tell you how many times I have revamped the entire room.

I'm working on a "make-do" apron, recycling a frayed dress shirt from my husband. It's looking cute, but the only problem I'm having is that it's a 100% cotton "no-iron" shirt - so the creases are premanently baked in, and I can't get them out no matter how much I iron. I wonder if there is anything that can relax these darn creases?

i have olivia and deven here today, so we are watching the big red dog, and such and staying out of the heat for the time being.

craft wise, i am always working on the bunnies, but now and then, i switch to give my hands a rest and lately i have been back to making some of my cedar sawdust filled pincushions. a good way to use small scraps and do a little hand sewing, just a diversion i guess from the bunnies.
these pincushions havent been embellished, but i am leaning towards some old buttons to dress them up. we'll see.

Jami, I feel the same way! I just fixed this studio up this year and I don't know what I ever did without it! Last night I was on the front porch watching the storm and my dd (16) was woke up by the storm and she checked our bedroom and then the next place she knew to check was the studio! LOL she thought I was in there.

Since I'm a suburban/urban farmgirl I try to put my skills to use to benefit my community so I've just started a baby blanket that will be donated to a neonatal intensive care unit. I usually do a blanket and some hat/booty sets, then give it all to the hospital. I've also got socks on the needles but I always have a pair of socks going. I just recieved my sisterhood badge in the mail so I need to start to brain storm on how I want to embroider it. I know I want to make the whole thing into a pin so I can wear it on my apron in the summer and my jeans jaket during the colder months.

I am currently addicted to making ATC's (artist trading cards) and mixed media projects! I'm also crocheting a lace shawl and a cotton market bag. I do my outside chores either really early in the morning or in the evening to beat the heat and humidity. Right now, my 'studio' is my dining room....I would love to have a proper art studio!!

Kim, I have never made ATC's but they sound very intereseting and my dh collects vintage baseball cards and has old ones so I bet I could use them as a template. Oh my you have to do things to beat the heat, summer time is a hard time to do chores in the heat. hugs

There are some really nice Yahoo swap groups for ATC's. They are alot of fun and I've learned alot from the ladies who have been making them alot longer than I have.

sue, you might try using a solution of white vinager and water on a pressing cloth to get the "permanant" creases out. hope it helps. peace connie in alask a

jami, thanks for the comment on the pin cushions. they are a standby for me now, when i dont have the block of time to work on bigger projects or dont feel quite good enough to do so.
today, i hope to dedicate myself to finishing up some of the bunnies that have been on order here for a looooong time with the farmgirls. i think i have about 5-6 more to complete. they are all started and in various stages of completion but i havent had the amount of time to work on these that i require. lots of family visits lately. some planned some surprises. it is amazing how busy a "retired" farmgirl can be!
anyway, hope to get some finished today and ready to ship out. tomorrow my dh will be home, (and his truck will be here as well)
so if i can get them ready to mail, i can drive into town and mail them. i have been farmbound and without a vehichle for about 2 weeks.
(and i still dont have a clean house! what does she do all day?)
any way, enjoyed checking out your blog, jami and had to laugh at the pics of your doggies hair cut. we have a pyrenes too, and just love her.

As usual I have about ten projects going on at the same time; cross-stitching a sampler for my granddaughter, making soap, sewing an apron, and making things for the swap. Somewhere I'll have to find time to clean the house and make dinner.

Yay!! We have an Alaskan!! Hiya Connie ;)

I'm putting off picking cherries until after our 4th party~I think I'll can the juice and do something with it during the winter months when I'll welcome a little burst of July. Everything is starting to ripen lately so I need to think "preservation".
Shoot, I need to make soap too. Judith, have you noticed how the price of oils for soaping has skyrocketed?
