Can someone who uses a clothesline for drying towels answer this question? Is their a solution to towels that are rough and stiff after coming off the line? I'm going to be installing a clothesline soon to try to decrease my use of the dryer but I'm taking a lot a flack from family members who don't get why I would use one. They are particularly concerned about the stiffness of towels that are line dried.

Thanks!

Kimberly, I don't have a dryer so I line dry all of my wash and I have found that it usually depends on the towel. Most of mine come out fairly soft even line dried. I use vinegar for fabric softener. I will say that my dish rags come out so stiff that they could stand on their own. Good Luck!

My son (12 years old) whines about the "scratchy" towels. I like them rough personally. I told him he needs to toughen up the baby smooth skin.

I have found the windier the softer. I also give them a couple good snaps before and after. I have been keeping track and have saved over $20 a month on my electric bill by not using the dryer. I haven't been letting the kids watch TV during the day, either.
