Dear farmgirls, I am feeling more functional today and finally able to share some photos from Saturday in NYC with the MJFarmgirls. It truly was a blast. I'll just send you right to them at : url]www.feedsackfarmgirls.blogspot.com[/url] More to come there with pics from my booth at the farmer's market, chickens, etc. BTW, if any of you are considering a blog or just posting photos, Blogspot is a breeze, even for computer handicaps like me.

My dear Sue ~ thank you so much for sharing your NYC pictures!! I loved reading your story ~ you have a knack for writing dahlin', it is so much fun to read about your adventures!! I'm so glad you had a good time! Thanks for showing your farmgirl "penache" by proudly wearing your apron and being yourself!! I know that MaryJane, Megan, Anna and Julie Bell were really looking forward to meeting YOU!! I'm sure you and Julie Bell hit if off just fine! Nick and Emil are in this morning and we've heard a few of their stories. They all got to Moscow at 2:00 am this morning, so we haven't seen Julie and Anna yet. I'm sure they are pretty tuckered out today. Thanks again for making the trip real for the rest of us!! love ya!

SUE!!! LOVE your blog and the pics of your day in the Big Apple with MJ and crew! Your outfit was adorable (so are you by the way)! Would have loved to have seen the sidelong glances as you strode ( is that a word?) the sidewalks of Manhattan! Did any handsome businessmen follow you calling out "hey !! BlueEggBabe where ya been all my life???" or " Come and cook a meatloaf and mashed potatoes for me darlin'" NYC will never be the same after farmgirls breezed in!Thanks for sharing those BLUEEGGFABULOUS pics!

HA! Actually, to be honest, the biggest smiles I got were on the train from a group of 6 Amish women that were sitting together right by the tiny train bathroom. When I walked to the bathroom, their eyes all dropped to my lap and my apron. I heard something whispered in PA Dutch that I couldn't decifer but later on, when they got off the train in NJ everyone of them gave me a BIG smile when they walked past....laughing with me or at me, I am not sure but you can bet all of their aprons were back on the farm, hanging on a hook!! I smiled right back, in a sisterly kind of way. You know, Meadowlark, I get overstimulated and overwhelmed pretty easily when I am in NYC, so the only contact I had with a man was the cabbie who couldn't understand where I wanted to go.He ended up driving those congested streets so fast, there was just NO window shopping for good lookin' men. It was a literal blur! I wish I had handed my camera to Julie or Anna to get a final shot of me tryin' to wave down a cab in the midst of a sea of humanity, all with the same intention. Whew, it was insane but would have made for a great photo! Don't feel bad MJF girls, it didn't take too long before a kind cabbie stranger took pity on me. I got to Penn Station with just enough time for a little snack and a tall beer and time to board my train. I had planned to nap for a few hours, but a lovely woman from Washington DC sat down beside me, told me my basket was the biggest she had ever seen, and we just talked non-stop until I got off the train. It is just so fascinating to me how people are "thrown" together for reasons that are bigger than we are...but it was an amazing encounter, to be sure. I will save that story for another time.......

BEB, I'm just teasin ya bout the men scooping...but I am sure THEY were doin the scoopin on you!!!! Love the Amish ladies story...did your big basket get searched by security? It is wondrous how people respond to one another in all situations...and most often so reassuring and heartwarming! That is what I love most about travel...WE are just one big family! I have never been "back east"...I would love to though... talk about a deer in the headlights look! I would look like I just fell off a turnip truck! NYC would be the consumate big city trip for me! Oh well, some day...

If I am able to come down to earth from our NYC trip, I just may be able to breath again….Picture this, farmgirls and boys hovering over NYC with our noses pressed as close to the plane windows as possible. “Look, it’s the statue of Liberty”, says Kate. “Oh my God, I can’t believe we are really here”, says Anna. For the next 5 days, not a one of us felt our feet touch the ground. Our bags where packed with MJ foods, aprons, marshmallow tins, yellow enamel pans, cowgirl boots, vintage jewelry and our best party outfits. I can only imagine what the airline crew thought about all of this as our luggage was being scanned.
Saturday, October 1, “Be Creative New York” explodes in Central Park. Tents, vintage cloths, old bicycles, baskets, yarn, apples, women in aprons with their bags filled to the top! ‘The Dish’, outdoor kitchen set up by KitchenAid, not quite our plum pit kitchen, but who would complain with all the modern equipment. MJ and I start the day off with a cooking demo of our Cauliflower and Garlic BakeOver. The smell was incredible. Garlic for breakfast PLEAZZZZZ. Later in the afternoon, we made smores’. What a sticky, yummy mess of chocolate, homemade marshmallows, and graham crackers. After the demo, we served the crowd. It was so cute, all these women with marshmallow cream all over their faces. You just have to laugh and we did. Excitement was in the air. Women and men, searching for that prized position to carry home. I wondered over to our little booth, standing quiet for the first time today, I looked up and there she was, BlueEggBabe. As soon as I looked into her sparkling eyes, I knew it was she. Hugs, squeals, kisses, and arms flying in the air!!! It was as though we have always been best of friends, we just needed the right moment to touch. She even came baring gifts. A beautiful cigar box, covered in mail art deco, and filled with her famous apothecary goods. Thanks from all of us for keeping us healthy Sue. Of course, there was the white vintage blouse and freshly made apron. You know the routine, just like the night before Christmas when we are finishing the last stitch of that special project before the children awake. We talked of our families, Sue’s beautiful farm and laughed all day. The concert was so inspiring as Mary sang her heart out in the bright sunlight. There was a pool of women sitting on the ground, soaking in her every note. MARY, I want to have you over for dinner!!!! You too, BlueEggBabe. And then, ever so slowly, the day came to an end. We had to say goodbye. I walked Sue to the door (front gate) just as if she had been a visitor in my home. ‘Be safe Sue’, I said as she walked away. It was as though I was leaving my child on the street corner alone. So glad you made in back to your little nest BlueEggBabe. What a pleasure to have met you.
It feels good to be home. The leaves are turning a golden yellow and the smell of coolness is in the air. New York is wonderful, but there’s no place like home. Thank you NYC for having us as your guest and showing us what an exciting city, full of beautiful people you have. I look forward to our next adventure together.
I'll post my pictures tomorrow.

CindyLou, I am there on the blog, Hon.....look again! If you scroll all the way down to the very bottom of the page, that would be me in the pink cowgirl hat. Then, if you scroll up from there, there is a photo of Kate, MJ & BlueEggBabe. Okay, now I am going to have to post the pic showing our 3 pairs of farmgirl boots......but I send a disclaimer with this one: Those Idaho farmgirls grow real small feet!! My feet are average size ...but is it the angle or what?? MY FEET LOOK ENORMOUS!! Ha! Watch for the new pics tomorrow......

Sue, Love those pics of the feet...it's just the angle of the camera sweetie, not the size of your feet! Your boots look like Fryes...I had a pair of Fryes in college back in the 70's...they made my feet look big. I wear a size 6! You all look so pretty and sweet in your outfits! What a wonderful day it must have been for all of you! Great memories! Thanks for sharing with us!
