I've decided that, being practically born in bluejeans and tshirts, it's time for a change. I've decided that I need some nice, every day type dresses and skirts. Bo is currently loving it (see my blog under "Recovering Tomboy seeks Uber-girly Pinup Girl Dresses.")

I'm currently obsessed with 40's and 50's style dresses, but pretty much any vintage pattern will be appreciated. Size would need to fit 34-30-41, so if it fits the bottom half, I can do some alterations to make it fit the top.

If anyone has some great, mid-thigh to ankle length dress or skirt patterns, I'd be more than happy to barter for them. I have LOTS of books, a little bit of yarn, and lots of other things that are up for trade.

Hi, I have countless vintage patterns all in good shape. If you still need something I will take a look. Do you want daytime or evening? Jill in WI. & TX.

Ooh! You have both?! Lucky duck.

I'm really in need of daytime patterns. Do you have any pictures, or could you post some? What would you like to trade for it? I have cookbooks, knitting books, fabric, lots of things.

Marie, I will have to dig through my patterns and see what I have. I have some older patterns but I don't know if they are quite that style. The dresses are really cool, so I might just have to come up with a pattern if I don't have one. I will let you know!!

I too have a strange obsession with 40's fashion that keeps popping up and then subsiding. I did make the switch to mostly skirts and dresses about 2 years ago, much to my husbands delight. Now I get comments from family that I find quite funny. . "Is that all you ever where?" said with an eye roll and a disgusted shake of the head. I'm not sure when dressing like a girl got such a bad name, but don't really care either! Since it's summer, I'm dying to get one of these retro inspired swimsuits http://www.mybabyjo.com/swimwear.htm

Theresa: Oh pbbt! I used to get that from my mom that I never wear anything but jeans... then it got to "Don't you ever wear anything but black?" *sigh* Never satisfied.

I'm very much of the opinion that if it looks good and you're comfortable, then it's what you should wear. I just happen to want to look girly right now. The menfolk do love when we put on a pretty frock and tie back our hair... I think it makes them feel that we do it for them, so that they know that we let our hair down just for them, or let them pull out the ribbon.

Men are such suckers for a pretty face.

If you get patterns, you'll have to post pics, Marie! The dresses were so cute and feminine. I know exactly what you mean about the looking girly part, even though I've got a lot of tomboy in me yet. My man loves when I wear a skirt, and wouldn't complain if I wore them all the time. Feminine charm truly does seem to be irresistable to guys. :)

Absolutely! I'd love to show off my new girly duds. If not here, then on my blog.

Monica, sounds great!!! I was recently told that I need to take a pattern-making class (when buying two sizes of the same pattern! It's not my fault that I'm between two different sizes!)

Marie, go to stitching and crafting under general forum and then go to patterns for forties style housedresses. There is a post listing about 5-6 vintage pattern sites and I bet you could find a pattern for what you want. I will look through mine though and let you know if I have anything. Happy hunting

Love the bias trim. I'm going to be making some for fall I think.
