This really has been a hoot reading this thread and laughing so hard at all of you!!! Yep, laughter is the best medicine and I love your attitude, Miss Wilma! Maybe that "powerful stuff" is worth a try - I have an aunt who swears by a shot of whiskey to cure whatever pains you! heehee and she's still going strong.

Miss Wilma, I just KNEW you were a good girl. You know you'd be welcome at my house ANY time. Even if the only reason you came out was to give me "what for"! Like Jonni said, at least it's a visit from Miss Wilma. Ha!

Here's how I know Miss Wilma knows her "white lightnin'"...Before I met her, Jus and I went down to Mammoth Cave, near her, for our 5th Anniversary trip. Well, we celebrated our actual anniversary at a favorite restaurant in Louisville (which is wet) and then drove on down through the "dry lands". About half way through our stay, Jus wanted a good, cold beer...so we drove to Glasgow, Kentucky where they have the Scottish Highlands Festival (so we thought, Irish + Scottish = beer, right?)...turns out that the Highlands Festival is ALSO dry. Makes for a lot of sober Celts in kilts  .
So, we motored down to Bowling Green on the Kentucky/Tennessee border, found a beer and bought extra :).
When I mentioned to Miss Wilma that we had tried to find a good beer or wine shop in her area, but to no avail because all the counties around Mammoth Cave were dry, she said without skipping a beat, "well, If I'd a known you then, I could have told you where to go. You was just looking in the wrong places!!!"
Now I know who to chat up for a drink in that county!!!!

Okay girls I have been thunking and have come to the conclusion old Arthur doesnt stand a chance with any of us, I am not kidding when I am laughing I dont think so much about him, I DONT FEEL HIS PAIN. Now I am going to have some fun with that moonshine when the girls get here. Lisa are you sure you cant make it

Miss Wilma, if I had a relative that worked for an airline or some other reasonably priced way to get there, I'd be there in a NY minute! I'm not much of a drinker, but tip one back for me. I'll be there in spirit!

Lisa I gotta confess, I tasted of beer one time in my life have drunk a small amount of wine and cant stand the smell of whiskey It was the way I was raised so I never learned to like it, I have never been around it very much, Now I am one of the biggest coffee drinkers in the world, We got the moonshine as a treat for our friends in Texas, they wanted some Ky moonshine so Sterl had a cousin in Harlan Co that knew where to get it, sorry girls looks like I really am an old prude Love ya Wilma

Now I am really laughing. You an old prude, no way girl. I confess to drinking wine, my hubby will have a beer now and then. Hard stuff we put into his baking sometimes, or into the bbq sauce. Other than that, I drink lots of tea, love an ice cold Pepsi. Yep, such a hard drinker here....lol I still thinking rubbing it on the joints is worth a darn try because my knees do not want to behave themselves at all these last 3 days......

I agree, I really doubt that you are an old prude!!! It been way too much fun chatting with you for that. I really don't drink, either. One glass of wine does me in. Actually, I guess I'm pretty boring...I'm a water drinker - I like tea, esp. herbal tea. I don't drink coffee. Can't deal with the caffine, I like it and love the smell of grinding it! (my husband is the coffee drinker)
and Oh!, Miss Wilma... you do know that "Arthur" loves it when you drink coffee? you need to drink at least twice as much water as the coffee you drank to keep from getting dehydrated or Arthur will be painfully mean to you all day. (sorry! I know you probably didn't want to read that.)

I've never been much of a drinker either but i do love a nice glass of wine and since I've been in KY I have learned to appreciate the art of bourbon making. Sometimes on a cold night after a hard day on this little plot of land a nice sit by the fire slowly sipping on a little bourbon has been quite a treat. Relaxes old Arthur away. Now moonshine, I've never tried and I lied, it is a little intimidatin'.....but now if we want to talk coffee...well...I lovvvee my coffee. Miss Wilma I'm with you on that one. Cures most ills for me.

Miss Wilma, Well I can tell you that your friend really likes the heat. If you have or can get a parfin machine I suggest useing it about 3 tmes a day. Your hands will love it. Keep yourself warm when it gets cold. Extra cloths. My Mom has had it for about 30 yrs...she had to retire because of it. She started wearing an undershirt in the winter time and even in the summertime she would wear a "wife beater"....lol...It helped somehow. Alieve helps sometimes...and the glucosamine and chondroitin takes up to 3 months to work. Light massage can help also. Hope you feel better and take care.

Karen, I know what a wife beater is....Jus wears them all the time. Except I don't let him wear them alone because he's skinny and pale and looks like a bumpkin. Under one of his vintage shirts, they look wonderful :)
Luna--bourbon is an acquired taste, and I do like it in small doses (very small). For us, it's more of a winter thing, too, as well as a good Port. We have a friend who infuses his bourbon with cinnamon and apples and gives 5ths as (very coveted) Christmas gifts.
I love a good glass of wine--had a savignon blanc last night that had essences of fresh cut grass and red grapefruit (in my opinion, it was DIVINE). Nice way to wind down my wicked day :)
Miss Wilma, the rain is gone and so, then, should Arthur be. My hand feels much better, and I'm hoping all of you does too :)

Jonni, I just recently found out what a wife beater is...how long have you known? is this an old term or new? i feel so old these days not knowing modern(?) terms for things that i use everyday....
if i find out this an old term, i'll start researching for my retirement home this afternoon, 'cause i'm gonna need elder care...

I remember hearing it as early as the 1980's around friends who had older brothers, and then when I married Jus, he referred to them that way, "hey hon, do I have any clean wifebeaters?" Never, "hey hon, do I have any clean tanks or undershirts?". I did research the origin at one time out of curiosity and found this article from 2002 from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette...the term is becoming part of our daily lexicon.

That's funny. I never heard the term until a couple years ago and my daughter had to explain it to me. I always called them gramps undershirts because growing up, Grampa was the only one I knew who wore them!

LOL, see the education that we get here. Yep, knew what they were cause dh has a couple of them for the very hot summer days here to wear under his overalls of coarse. I don't think I would know him without his good ole overalls. Theya re just a part of who he is.
We are suppose to stay rainy and cooler for another 5 days, but then releif comes. Warmer weather. Now mind you when it is in the 90's later in July I will be a wishing for some of this cooler weather.....lol
