Sheila, I have severe fibromyalgia and also suffer from chronic depression. I take Prozac and Clonazapam right now. I would love to switch to Cymbalta and try it but changing from Prozac to Cymbalta is a bit tricky from what I've read. You risk seretonin syndrome if you switch too fast and increased symptoms of pain and depression if you completely stop the Prozac first. It takes a skillful doctor to monitor this and so far I haven't found one wanting to take me on. However, if I could find one, I'd do it in a hearbeat. Chronic pain isn't exactly something I signed up for.

Sheila, I take Cymbalta. I have fibromyalgia. It is suppose to help Fibro patients with pain and energy levels. Also the depression you get with dealing with the pain.
Yes for me it helps. I finally had some energy back, not perfect but it does help me. I cannot say it helped with the pain because I am on pain killers as well. It has taken time and for each individual with Fibro it is different. I have a combination to help with the Fibro.
Need to ask more specfics, give me an email and will gladly try to answer your quesitons from where I am at. Carol Sue

Sheila, I took Cymbalta for about a year and had great results. I have a great relationship with my primary care Doctor and had tried Paxil a long time ago and that experience left me with a negative view on antidepressants. I've had nerve damage since birth and have never been on pain medication on a regular basis, so can honestly say that the Cymbalta alone did help with the little pains. I'm not a fan of being dependent on medication, but also know what it is like to need some extra and Cymbalta did just that for me. I am greatful that it was recommended and would suggest you give it a try. Oh, and I didn't have any nasty side effects when I ended it either, NOTHING like the horror stories I've heard of other meds. I hope you find something that helps! =)

Hi Sheila,
I take this drug and it does work for me. I want to stress though that these kinds of drugs don't work for everyone and you need to take the time and have patients to find the right drug (or combination of drugs) that will work for you. It took me more than two years to find worked for me. Have faith and work with your doctors.

Thank you all for the advice and the suggestions I did go to my family doctor He perferred to try the generic brand for prozac / for nerves too It is doing pretty good so for Oh, I agree some of the side of affects of medication is awful the family doctor took me off one of my pain meciations and I had a terrible time. I am thinking I do feel a little different off that one my family doctor was frustrated that the pain doctor gave me that brand and the high dose that he did My family doctor told me to quit taking them ; the sooner the better. Ug. pain doctors and doctors. One tells you one thing then the other another, make sense? Ha. thanks again pinkroses
