Ok i have been hearing from some friends that there are ag grants out there for farms. We have been working hard the last few years to turn our place back into a working farm. Do the local farmers market with produce and homemade baked goods (new this year) but now that i am loosing my job dh and i are thinking of really goin forward and expanding our farm. My question is has anyone hear done this or applied or know how to write an application for a grant? A friend told me it is kind of hard but if the app is written right it may work.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated!! We are goin thru our savings and dont know where to turn, i went into the medical field thinking i would always have a job!! NOT!! But my first love is workin out on the farm and that has become a major priority in my life a career isnt as important anymore.
Someone please help!~~~ THANKS!~~~

Darlene,

I have worked on grants for other business, but not farming. HOWEVER, go to my Small Farm site at http://smallfarm.about.com/od/resources/Resources_for_Small_Farms.htm. This page contains resource infor for small farmers. You can scroll down to FARMING GRANTS and click on it for more information. There is info about grants and how to write a proposal.

Good luck and let me know if there is any more information you need. I might be able to help!

Darlene,
I've worked at Zeeland Hospital (just north of you) for 18 years as an X-ray tech. It's an excellent place to work. I don't know what your field is, but there are quite a few openings in the various departments. www.zch.org

Thanks Renee~~
I work in the ICU/Med Surg floor and in the 8 1/2in yrs i been there we have gone thru 7 directors of our unit which is combined with ob. They stay about a year but when they come in they change everything and it is just too much this time!! I was cut down from full time to 3 days a week, and my previous boss worked it out where i did mon wed thurs and no weekends so i can attend the market, which actually was great for both of us they tend to not need me on weekends as much. So i just dont know but will take a peek at the zch site!!
THANKS so much!!
