i am thinking about purchasing a dress form sometime this year and would really love any advice or recomendations from anyone who has one or uses one.
i made a little dress form for my bunnies and it has really helped with making their clothes....okay, i just am weary of looking at myself in my undies when i make clothes for myself and thought maybe with a dress form i could avoid the whole "that is what your thighs look like syndrome"
thanks for any help you can give me in this area.

Fran,
I found a nice one on ebay and it was ver inexpensive. I use it all the time. I bought it to use when I made my daughters wedding dress and have used it numerous times since. I would not recommend the type I have though it has the old slide bars that you adjust and then you have to tighten a wing nut into place. Not very easy for changing sizes when more than one person uses it. As we are not all the same size. I would definitely look at thrift stores and yard sales but most likely it would be easier to find one on ebay.

Frannie and Amanda, I used a similar site to make my own duct tape double. I love her! She is just my size and the cost was right. I had a friend help me and we had a really fun day. It was just the cost of a few rolls of tape and the stuffing. I used this site www.leanna.com/DuctTapeDouble/ It gave great instructions. If nothing else atleast go there and read the stories that have been sent in. They are VERY amusing. My double is made out of very yellow duct tape. her name is Daffy ( short for Daffodil). Next I am going to make a form for my bottom half so I can fit pants.

these are too funny, and fun! i used all the suggestions and found some very useful info. i am afraid i am not up to the duct tape project although it looks like fun, i am just afraid for me it would turn into a "Lucy" moment and i can come up with those moments without any help. also i guess i am the eternal optomist, i think i need one that you can change the form, cause i am always so sure i am gonna, well, "downsize"! a girl can dream.
