I'm in the mist of re-ordering spices from Mountain Rose Herbs & growing them in my garden & I need some spice jars. I'm thinking upright 8oz. jelly jars or some from Ikea. I want to redo my shelf.

Favorite spices? What do you use for jars? Got any pics?

We grow lots of herbs & dry them from the garden, so I need bigger than those little jars.

I've been looking at lids and I think that zinc lids would be awesome.

I always think about a spice rack, but I don't have a lot of counter space...also, I simply have TOO many spices!!! Therefore, one of my kitchen cabinets is devoted to them (2 shelves spices, 1 shelf vinegars, oils, syrups and honeys).

My favorite spices, or at least the ones I use constantly:
cumin
chili powder
cayenne
coriander
oregano
parsely
thyme
basil
sage

I think that's it!

I have a corner cupboard with lazy susan shelving and it is devoted to herbs and spices. I have a great variety, but my absolute favorite are parsley, sages, thyme, cumin, dried onions, garlic pepper, and an Italian blend I make from parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, onion and dried garlic. I especially like pineapple sage to use with pork and chicken. My favorites are within reach while cooking. It's best to keep large quantities in colored jars or ziplock bags and out of light. They will last longer. I put small portions in smaller refillable jars - 1/2 pint and pint size.

I have a shabby chic cabinet that hangs on the wall at the end of the kitchen. So the jars will look great there. I want to get away from plastics.

Shirley...I've been wondering what to use pineapple sage for other than herbal tea & minced in fruit salad. Thanks.

Jonni...Thanks for the list. Yum!
