PLASTIC, STYROFOAM .. lots of different paper products that we EAT or DRINK out of has dangerous levels of BPA .. (i guess ANY level is bad for us!!) .. but driving home yesterday .. i was listening to a radio station and they were discussing CLEAR plastic bottles (yep! the kind that 'healthy' water comes in!!! and most especially BABY BOTTLES .. have dangerous chemicals that leach into our babies milk .. juices and whatever they drink from birth to two years old .. and older if we continue to use plastic containers!
i am going to look for BPA-FREE bottles for this new little baby of ours .. and sofia still has a 'night-night' bottle too!
does anyone have any GREAT suggestions for SAFE baby bottles?

I don't know about baby bottles but we upgraded to Klean Kanteen once Charlie was old enough to use a sippy cup.
I just googled this but I can't tell where they are made:

I always used glass bottles when my oldest boys were babies (my only homemade kids)..I just felt like they got more clean...but I don't see them around much anymore. I know they must still be made. I don't think there is a better solution!

I used glass bottles with Jocelyn. That was about 3 years ago. They're a little heavy, but they worked great. Only problem was when she went to daycare, we weren't allowed to bring in glass. So I switched to Avent. Now apparently Avent is one of the brands that are made with the plastic that has BPA in it. But I got the glass bottles through either Amazon or Babycenter - I can't remember exactly which one! |

Hey Frannie, glad you found out this info. I'm having my first child in July. I didn't even know they made glass baby bottles. I will be breast-feeding, but when my son gets a few months older, I will pump maybe once a day so my hubby can experience bottle-feeding our son. Also, if we don't sell our house, I will have to go back to work and will have to pump so our son can still be on breast milk. If you find out where to buy glass baby bottles, please let me know. Isn't it sad that almost EVERYTHING in the world now-a-days emits harmful chemicals?! |

I am pretty sure you could use a silicon nipple with the Klean Kanteens. I will check on this as soon as Nora's Klean Kanteen is washed up.

My sister used to work for the Cancer Cataloging center (can't remember what it's REALLY called) Her job was to read all the Biopsy reports that came in, rate the severity and type of cancer, then put all the info into a national Cancer Research database. SCARY the things she's told me about!
She said one of the most agressive (and NEWER) types of cancer is "Neuroblastoma." (BRAIN CANCER) It is increasing at alarming rates in children. The suspected culprit? You guessed it --- PLASTIC! Plastic drink bottles of all kinds. (probably those baby bottles too)
Something happens when the plastic bottles get hot. The heat causes the chemicals to leach out into the liquid inside the container. (if a water bottle gets left in my car, it gets chucked!) That's also why plastic should never be used in a Microwave oven either! Use glass instead.
It seems nothing comes in glass containers anymore. Not even at the health food stores! Everything is in plastic or styrofoam (which is the WORST) and wrapped in even MORE plastic! YIKES!!!!

That's really scary, Tracy! Thanks for the information. I think everyone should support this company: http://www.kleankanteen.com/ They have a wide range of items, their smallest is a 12 ounce sippy cup. Nora has one and LOVES it!
