I busted my big toe BIG time and I can only wear my slip in sandal right now, no flip flops or even sneakers. I tried on some Crocs and they seem comfortable and wide enough to accomodate my big toe and big feet. Should I try some out??? THanks.

I think they are too expensive for being foam/plastic. they seem sweaty to me. I am super picky about my shoes. They have to be othopedic or have super arch support. Some people swear by them. For the money they want, you could buy Birkenstocks on ebay or at a discount shoe store.

Hi Heather! I always thought crocs were so ugly and swore that I would never get any...but, I found a pair on sale at our local farm store the other day and decided that they would be okay to wear in the garden so I could just hose them off when I came inside. I must say that they are sooo comfy that I slip them on to go many places, not just the garden! They are definately wide enough, my husband with triple-E width feet can wear mine. So, my vote is yes! I also like all the choices in colors, I was able to find some orange ones and was super-thrilled! |

I LOVE my CROCS! They are like wearing pillows~I've had a pair for 2 years and my feet yell "YIPPEE" every time I wear them.

I have both Birks and crocs..... and agree with both Patricia and Toni.... If I had to only buy one pair to be able to wear anywhere.. it would be birks... but if your looking for something that you can hose down.. watch for sales on the crocs... Sorry about your big toe... ouch! What did you do?

Hey Heather - I resisted the Croc's trend for awhile but finally broke down and bought some and I love them. The other cool thing is that they have a program for taking recycled materials (I think it is crocs that people have worn out and turned back in - I saved the article but can't find it now) and making new shoes and then donating them to people in developing nations who can't afford shoes. The only thing is if your feet get wet in them, like when you are gardening, and you are not wearing socks they get a little stinky |

My mother bought me a pair, but I don't wear them...Something about plastic shoes. I didn't wear "jellies" when they were the go, either :)
My mom had toe surgery and that's when she bought hers...she really likes them, though!

I have 3 pair, you know from my nursing career and had to match the scrubs! I love them!! I am truely a Dansko freak but for easy kick around feeling like you are in your bedroom shoes wear the crocs can't be beat. I hose them off and I have also washed them in the washing machine many times over and they come out looking like new each time. We just went camping and I wore them and was very happy. I garden, muck stalls, grocery shop what have you in them!

Heather, Yes, I take walks in mine. Mine are bright sunshine yellow. With my Fibro, pain issue in back was not grand. DD got a pair for me and they have been a life saver. Have to say, I love my birks and my flip flops and running barefoot. Ok, I just plain like comfy shoes!!!!!!

I found regular crocs and wasn't sure they'd work for me, then I found a pair of turquoise MaryJane style crocs, I love them, they have those little bumps on the bottom that sort of massage your feet. They are especially good for the beach, scrambling around on the rocks..

I resisted the trend for quite a while because I thought (and still think) crocs are ugly. However, I developed some problems with my feet and the doctor suggested I get a pair of the Rx crocs (only available online) to wear around my house (can't go barefoot anymore) Must say they are very comfortable and easy to clean.

Hmmm...I think they are cute for gardening and playing outside etc. I can't wear them though. I have a "firm foundation" shall we call it and I have a hard time finding my size and not have them be sloppy. Since crocs are made the way they are when its long enough, its huge side to side. :) So, I guess that leaves me out.:) My kids have them though and love them. Especially my daughter she wears them everywhere! hugs jessie

After falling and severely spraining my ankle in January, I found it very difficult to wear regular shoes- (my foot still swells even now.) My Christmas Crocs from my nephew saved my feet. I could walk comfortably, they are wide enough for my still-swollen foot and I feel secure in them. The first week or so, I did notice that my feet would sweat, but not any longer than that. I have the Maryjane Crocs, but I hope to get some of the flip-flops. I think they have helped because they mold to your feet. Whatever the reason, I love my Crocs.

I'm totally into comfort and not so much fashion. When the Airwalks first came out, they looked comfy enough and when I tried them on, I was hooked. I never could justify spending the money on Crocs or Birks. Rose got me a pair of fleece lined crocs for Christmas and they are just wonderful! I wore them all winter. Then a friend of mine, who is a nurse, wears Anywears (which I never heard of) and swore by them. So I found them on line at Tafford (medical uniform shop) for $26 including shipping. I absolutely love them! They have even more cushion than the Airwalks and I wear them to work, on long walks, in the yard and garden and my back actually feels better since I got them. And they have a pretty little flower design on the top.

I have several pair of them (and noticed a HUGE difference between real crocs and the fake ones, by the way) and wear them alot..even a couple pair (in black and navy) of the maryjane style..I have the navy ones on now..for wearing with skirts. I do love my birks and will never NOT wear them..but crocs are handy and more washable and great especially for summertime. I can't imagine NOT having them now. I wear them with socks in winter..until the snow gets bad..then of course the holes in them aren't very practical. I resisted for a long time..but when I got them and wore them I really fell in love. I have black, red and chocolate brown clog style too...so, gosh, guess I have 5 pair.

Your right, Aunt Jenny, the holes are not very practical in the winter. But remember all the snow we got up here this year? I wore those fleece lined crocs ALL winter when walking on shoveled surfaces, even when shoveling the driveway and walkways and my feet were nice and toasty in them. That fleece lining made all the difference. The only problem was that when I wore them out in public, people thought I was wearing my slippers!
