My favorites are Days of Our Lives and Passions! I watch Days mostly out of habit. I've been watching since the 70's. Passions I love and have been watching since the first episode. I'm still hoping that since it moved from NBC to DirecTV that it will be picked up again for another season!
Anyone else have their favorites?

General Hospital is my favorite and one I've been watching for what seems like forever. I used to watch Days(remember Doug and Julie?). I sometimes watch All My Children and One Life to Live when I'm home on my day off(Friday). I've recently gotten my co-worker Linda hooked on GH-LOL!

I tend to only watch Days now a couple of times a year. It really seems to me like that is all it takes to keep up with the Hortons, Bradys and Dimeras. I actually watched it today. I think I too watch it out of habit. I have watched it with my Grandma since I was born!

They bring back Doug and Julie about 2 times a year! They both look pretty good. They also just brought in a new Mickey Horton...remember him, the lawyer? LOL, the new guy is nothing like the original Mickey.
I used to watch GH but stopped because that's when my son would get home from school....Maybe I'll try catching up with it again!

Well, that's cool about Doug and Julie! I'm glad to know they look good! I'd love to see them again. And Mickey. What was his wife's name? And Robert(robair) LeClare! I loved the whole nightclub thing. LOL!

Maggie! And she looks terrific. I'm so glad they kept her character instead of writing her out of the storyline. There are so many that were popular that just seemed to disappear!

Oh brother.
glad to know i'm not the only one.
I used to watch Days and Passions RELIGIOUSLY and even planned shopping forays around these times.
Sadly, we can't get NBC out here in the stix (no Dish access---just can't justify it). I haven't seen these or ER in YEARS!
So, now I watch As The World Turns and Guiding Light. (sigh) |

I'm so glad to find someone else who loves Passions!! Did you know it moved to Directv last Fall? Last time I heard, it's going to end in August of this year unless another network picks it up. It's one of the best shows ever and I hope they find a way to continue it.
My favorite character is 'Tabitha'....and that's where I got my user name. I hope I look as good as she does when I grow up!!

I like As the World Turns. I have watched Days since the begining. I don't really see much of Days anymore, but ATWT and General Hospital I catch when I can. My granddaughter loves GH. She seems to like those bad boys with the good hearts!!

Oh brother. At least I'm not the ONLY one for a sad weakness to Soaps! I watch the Young and the Restless (the noon news after that) then the Bold and the Beautiful. They are such STUPID, VAPID story lines, but they are SOOOO entertaining. We don't have cable or dish, or satelite either (boondock city!) and those are the only two that are the LEAST bit interesting to me. Only, on the Bold and the Beautiful the same 3 couples keep breaking up, swapping mates, then going back to their original obsession! The two soaps also swap characters all the time (though each character is the same person, they are just "visiting" in the "town" of the other soap. Must both be owned by the same network) Ahh.... but what a nice way to pass the time while folding piles of laundry! ~~Tracy
PS: Even my HUSBAND will watch the Young and the Restless if he happens to be home when it's on! (LOL!!) |

I may have to check out the other soaps all of you are watching! I usually get all my chores done in the morning so I have time to crochet in the afternoon and watch my shows but I'm finding Days of Our Lives increasingly stressful and violent. They don't seem to have much of a sense of humor anymore.
And with Passions ending in August, I definitely need to find a new Soap. They're silly but it's a good way to get me to sit down and relax instead of going full tilt all day...

shepherdgirl - That's interesting that your dh likes The Young and the Restless. My dad plays golf every day at a little par three course near his house. All the regular retired guys there leave every day in time to go home and watch 'Y & R'! LOL!!!!! Why do you think that is???? I've wondered about that for years! :D

I'm a One Life to Live nut...I always gotta know what's happening in Llanview. And who got me hooked on it? No one other than my HUSBAND! He's watched that show since he was a child!

I still watch General Hospital when I can. I watched it since I was in high school in the 70's. Do any of you remember Ryan's Hope? They have the reruns of it on the soap net early in the morning. 5:00 A.M. EST.

I didn't see Santa Barbara, Kim. But Janice, did you know that the lady that played Deliah on Ryan's Hope is on One life to Live now? She still looks pretty good too considering it was a long time ago she was on Ryan's Hope.

I know, Pam. She does still look like Deliah! I love her. I heard once that the woman on CSI(Marg Helgenburger) played Deliah on Ryan's Hope. When I heard that, I just said "She wasn't MY Deliah"!!! LOL! I wonder if that's true and when it would have been. I sort of stopped watching Ryan's towards the end, I think.

I don't know the true "Deliah" but Marg Helenburger is hot! If I do say so as a gal :)
I used to watch Days of Our Lives in the summer until I was 14...then I went away forever to ballet school. I did see a preview a few days ago and Patch is still alive...like for the 8th time :)

Nobody is ever REALLY dead on a soap. And sometimes, they come back looking totally 'different'.....that dying sure changes a person! ROFLOL!

It's true...I take it he and Kayla are still a thing...cuz she was there in the frame. I think she was dead too at one point. Well, one thing's for sure, he's never gotten his eyesight back, regardless of how many times he's risen from the dead!

I have watched many soaps in my lifetime....at one time or another I have been hooked on one or the other. In Middle School and High School it was Days of our Lives, Another World and then Santa Barbara. I loved all of those in the summers when I was babysitting. Especially Santa Barbara (Robin Wright Penn was on and Marcy Walker, too me they were the most beautiful sisters). Remember Eden and Cruz?
Then in college it was Young and the Restless, Bold, As The world Turns and Guiding Light...college roommate got me hooked on them.
Then one time during NBA playoffs, I was home with a new baby and started watching All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital since none on my network were on because of basketball and when I tried to go back to Days....the story line drove me nuts, I mean how many times can Hope be near death and Bo trying to rescue her?
I never got into Passions....it always seemed so far fetched to me....I felt that the storylines were written by aliens....are you kidding me?
For the last seven years or so, I've only watched Young and Restless and Bold periodically if I am in the kitchen working when it is on....I do watch As The World Turns daily, I seem to be in the house when that is on. I never catch Guiding Light anymore since they changed the time to 10am in my area (about 2 years ago, to make room for Dr. Phil at 3pm).
The other show I like daily is Oprah at 4pm but my kids get off the bus then, so I usually miss it or only catch bits and pieces.
