Hey Ladies!
Nora has some shirts that are store bought- the edges are obviously serged. They are knit material and the edges have a fun rippled look to them, though they are cut straight.
I don't have a serger or any way to buy one any time soon...Is there a way to get this effect with just a regular sewing machine- not a serger?
The lettuce edging I used to do to some of my t-shirt hems and sleeve hems back in High school, many many moons ago back when sewing machines had been first invented, I believe, LOL. You just set your machine for a kind of close zig zag stitch and pull the knit fabric back a bit as it feeds through. The tighter you pull the more tension it creates thus more ruffle.
