How was everyone's Mother's Day? I would love to hear stories from everyone.
Our was definitely farmgirl. My daughter and I have the same interests. Our present to her was a beautiful hydrangea in a deep blue purple to plant in her flower garden, a MaryJanes Beeswax Candle in a jar, and the MaryJane chocolate bars.
Her gift to me was a vintage 1930 apron embroidered with a lady in a full skirt and flowers all around. It was embroidered on off white muslin, and is the sweetest, most delicate yet farmgirl thing I have! It was done in 1930.....Julia got it on Ebay from a woman who said it was her mother's. I have taken photos and will post on my blog later this week. I absolutely love it. It is so dear - the sash across the back buttons on the side. And I can see all the handmade stitiching.
Everyone came to our house to eat. I made home-made crepes with broccoli, cheese and chicken with gravy inside. We had a big bowl of fresh fruit, yeast rolls, and a garden salad. I had a lot of fun cooking. I do the crepes a day ahead. My hubby said "you are working too hard - this is supposed to be your day," and I said I was lucky to have folks to cook for and eat with and that was my real present.

Can't wait to see photos, Jeannie...sure sounds like it was a wonderful day for you both!
I bought my mother one of Miss Wilma's fabulous doll babies (which she loves dearly and held her in the car all the way to dinner!) and a book that I ordered for her from a bookstore in Buxton, NC about women who grew up on the outerbanks--a memoir from several women about life on the island. She wanted mexican food, so we took her to the Cactus Pear, and wonderful (healthy) tex mex place around the University of Cincinnati.
Wonderful day--but it poured, monsoon poured all day long.

JEANNIE,
Sounds like you had a perfect day. Make sure you post a picture of your new apron. We were all at my daughters for dinner on Saturday, then on Sunday they all stoped in with presents. New table for the deck, a new wind whirly gig, plants. So this year I didn't do the cooking. But like you I really don't mind if I do.

My middle son, Jason and his wife Jenny asked me over to their house and we took my grandchildren (Amity (2) and Issac (6 months) to the zoo. My youngest son met us there and then we all walked on the greenbelt to the Ram pub and had wonderful food.
My grandchildren are so great. Both of them so different but were no problem at the zoo or the restaurant. Little Issac is just the happiest child and when he looks at his Momma or Papa he just grins from ear to ear. Miss Amity is a little more aloof and always has been but so smart it is incredible. My sweet daughter in law is a stay at home mom and devotes her entire day to their care and it really shows. What a perfect day it was. If you have MaryJanes newest magazine that just came out check out the article on small towns (pg 50) and at the top of page 50 is a picture of my son Jason and my granddaughter Amity who were at the party we had for MaryJanes visit.
Happy Moms day to us all! It is the hardest job in the world!
Some people look for happiness, others create it!

Love your stories! Jonni - your mom must be so happy....a gift made by Miss Wilma ranks up there with gifts from MaryJanesFarm! Nancy, your day sounds so fun. I would like to have you for a mom. Rose - sweet Rose! I know all about you! You are famous now! :) Great families and great moms and so many blessings abound all across this country! I love it......
