I'm going to get my chickens tommorow. How much should I expect to pay? I'm looking for ones in the 5-10 week old range.

Congratulations, Julie!! I just bought two RIR pullets two weeks ago for $4 apiece. I thought that was really cheap though. I would think you would pay between that and $8.
Good luck with your new babies. :)

I got 19wk old RIRs for 7.50$ each at the feed store. Have fun with your new chickies!

I order day old chicks for 1.15 each from my feed store. Don't know the breed though. They are listed as Blacks or Browns. I have meat birds cooming on Wed. Hopefully my layers come on the 21. The feed store does not know if I will get any layers. The hatchery is filling large orders first. ( not right) Letting the little guys fall by the wayside. I guess all the large producers are buying up all the brown egg layers they can get their hands on. Since the price of eggs are so high. At least that is what I was told.

My pullets were 2.99 a piece and my ducks were 4.99 a piece. That was at our feed store in town.

Congrats on all the new hens, everyone! I can't wait until I own my own land and can have some hens. Renting doesn't let me start my own backyard flock :(
