I just got a call, the Craft store here that I have some of my Stitcheries in is Closing their doors, I have to pick up my stuff by 1 pm today.

Would you add these items to your Etsy site and let them sit till sold or would you call around to see if any other Craft Stores are taking new clients?

I'm torn because of this recession that everyone's talking about and no one's buying.

Heather,

If your things on Etsy have been selling well I'd say "Go For It." You won't have to give the store a percentage....However...If things have been selling really well in the Craft Store I would see if there is another in the area that you can put your work in.... But......I think generally if you can sell on your own it certainly is to your advantage don't you think?? From my experiences I prefer to sell on my own and hope to have my own etsy site up soon! Sorry to hear the store is closing their doors.....seems to be a prob like that everywhere.

Heather, I'm sorry to hear that...I would use your Etsy, or you know, this season is hopping with farm festivals and craft shows. Maybe think of opening a booth at one and selling your wares.

Good luck to you--I know for sure, that even in my "tightest" spots, I always want to buy something handmade versus store bought. There are others out there just like me!!!
