Which brand do you use? I have been trying different types and I would like something that is recycled. I get so confused when I try to figure out which is best for my $$ and the environment. HELP!!!

You know, it's funny, but I could SWEAR that the price of toilet paper fluctuates. Has anyone else noticed that?
There are two brands I normally buy-- Northern (it's QUILTED you know! LOL) and White Cloud, though I find the white cloud has a lot of "lint." (Or am I imagining that too?) I really perfer the Northern though, but I buy whichever brand is on sale--- unless it's that cheap crap. You know, the kind that feels like sandpaper? or comes off the roll one square at a time? I just HATE that.
Whatever I buy, I have to buy the BIG rolls. I don't know HOW, but the men in my house go through toilet paper like nobody's business. (I'm the only girl, besides one of the Chihuahua monsters and the CAT) How IS that? He...he...he! What a topic! Should bring some intersting answers ~~~ Tracy |

I like Scot's. I find it lasts longer than any of the others. The quilted ones are lovely, but we seem to go through them very quickly.I will have to look into the recycled ones, I wasn't aware they are out there.

We only use Scott Tissue brand toilet paper. It isn't very soft but the rolls last forever and are good for septic systems (we no longer have a septic system but did got hooked on this brand when we did live in the country). It is a little more expensive but I swear the package lasts four times longer than other brands. I have tried Charmin and Cottonelle and we seem to go through a roll a day with those so I never buy them any more. -Elizabeth |

We also use Scott Tissue Brand, and as with Elizabeth I find that the roll lasts longer than others we have used. I occasionally use 7th Generation but it doesn't last as long and is more expensive. |

We use Scott extra soft or the Kirkland brand from Costco. The only problem with teh Costco one is all the waste from the individually wrapped rolls. I think it's because it is for commercial applications. I've never tried recycled tp because it is so much more expensive. Didn't someone post about using flannel squares somewhere? That would be the most economical, but....

This is sooo funny...we're discussing which TP brnads we buy! : ) We but cottenelle w/ ripples. I know that it claims to be safe for sewer and septic and it is not made from any recycled fiber only virgin wood fibers. Its abit expensive though. I actually went to the cottonelle website to get those facts...you can tell I have lots to do huh???

We buy the Costco big pack and it lasts us for a year :D $16 for a year of TP isn't too bad. But if you want to go really eco-friendly I think Seventh Generation makes some.

We only use Scott. I have bought the scot extra soft and everyone likes it (I honestly don't care at all) but it goes alot faster..guess cuz it is so much thicker. Scott lasts so much longer. With 6 of us here at home (3 of us girls) we go through it fast..ugh. I would love to be more eco friendly with TP but so far havn't been able to afford that. I do squash the roll before I put it on the holder though. It slows down the paper coming off and the kids seem to use a little less. At least I think they do.

I don't know if you have one near you, but I use Trader Joe's TP. It is so much recycled content-not sure, too lazy to go look. It is very reasonably priced and is sufficient for its duty. I go every 4-6 weeks and guess how much we will need for that time.
I used to use the Northern TP. I liked having the big rolls, since I was/am the one who changes the roll. (Big honkin' roll=being changed less often.) If I can't get to Joe's, I will buy a pack of this brand to tide us over.
Growing up we used Charmin, and I hated it. It leaves too much dust (that is what my friend calls it) as an after effect of wiping-down there. It also makes me itch like crazy. (Mom and Dad STILL use it, and it is probably due to the "dust".)
Don't miss out on a blessing, just because it isn't packaged the way you expected. ~MaryJo Copeland |

I was thinking of ordering frome the internet. Cost a little higher, but I can buy in large bulk. I, too, hate the lint problems especially now that Charlie is interested in using the bathroom, he gets lint of him bum and it doesn't clean him up well. GRRR! LIFE!!!! I also hate having to buy every few weeks, sitting there trying to figure out what is the best deal with my little calculator.
