It's certainly been a sad year for pets this year. I feel so bad for Kathy and Bagel today. We lost two felines last year and last night we lost our male Guinea fowl, Hennie. We found him in the dog kennel. I'm not sure the dogs had anything to do with it because he would fly in there and visit often and the dogs seemed to tolerate it well. My husband found him when he went out to feed last night. Hennie was special in that everyday when I came home he would run, in that way only a Guinea fowl can, to my van to greet me. He would follow me and my dog Lizzie around in the yard. But the funniest thing he would do is every night before bedtime, (he roosted in a pine tree), he would go around to all the animals and to our door and 'squawk' as if to let us know it was bedtime and he was saying goodnight. He'd start with the peafowl, then on to the dog kennel, then finally on the patio towards the door. Then up the tree he would fly. I had been on the lookout for him a girlfriend as I thought he was kind of lonely and I wanted to raise some more. I surely will miss the little fellow.

So sorry to hear about your little Hennie. He sounds like he was quite the character!

Being a farm girl myself, I certainly know how you feel. It doesn't matter what age you lose a pet, young, old, or those born with no life in them, the pain of each loss is always felt. It's especially hard when that one is a particular favorite. A prayer of peace and healing goes out from my heart to yours today. Enjoy your memories of Hennie and know that even though he's no longer with you in body, he's certainly there in spirit! Blessings to you-- Tracy
