i'm gittin' requests for these little ones .. but i trooooooooooooooooooooooly have to have them for an upcoming show .. (can't sell out of an empty wagon). i have promised Jossie Joleen .. sugar Pie . Mavis Maxine and Kledith Charleene to some of the gurlz if they do not get adopted at the show). i've never 'shown' my dollies very much in kentucky .. have put some in sugarbucket's shoppe .. but i think they are mostly tourists from 'off' who adopted those .. i've sold a hand-full through glovers' station .. but want to 'get the word' out about 'em in other parts of kentucky ..which i think this show will allow.
IF you see one you love .. let me know. they will go for about $25. each .. (will ask a little more at the show 'cuz it is a show'! sooooooo .. i 'might' be bringin' 'em back home again.

Ive been reading posts and trying to become familiar with the format of the Farmgirl Connection because.... I am new here ..... hope I am posting correctly! I too wish there were a few interested in my area to belong to a "Crafty type Sisterhood." I am a City girl but have a Farmgirl state of mind. Can't seem to find many around that have the same state of mind!
Do many of you find lots of people in your area with similar interests who you get together with for a crafty sisterhood??

aurdrey .. welcome .. you are doin' just great . .it takes a little short while to learn how to get to the forums .. and post and subscribe to topics you don't want to miss postings on. hang in ..
i don't find lots of dolly makers here in kentucky .. SCADS of them in the 'city' though when i lived up 'nawth' between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland (i lived in Annapolis). Had a wonderfully creative doll club there .. but it's the 'joke' around here (by kentuckians i've talked to) .. that SPORTS and BEAUTY PAGEANTS are the 'big interests' here. neither of which i have any interest in. (did when i was younger and my girls were younger .. but dolly making is my passion.
have to rustle up some dinner now .. but i'll get back to this and mayhaps we can all discuss how we might go about finding 'kindred souls'. (i think it is one of the wonders of computers and the cyberworld that we are now able to connect to like-minded people all over the country/world.
i doooo believe that we WILL find a few soul sisters in our areas if we but look in the right places.
back at ya' later kiddo! (have you clicked onto any of the girls' web or blogsites (usually you jus' have to 'point and clicik' at the highlighted sites in their signature lines.
try mine: the Sister Mercy's Foundlin HOme blogspot one. xo

Frannie, what a generous spirit you must have. I just saw the article in the MJ Magazine.. for the life of me, I dont know how you get that lil' ol pattern to become those cute babies...........One of the gals in my chapter, thought we should all make ones that "look like us".. and instead of having to pose for a group photo we could all just group the babies..... :).................seeing how they "begin" I am even more impressed.... Hey, I sent your blog address to each of my boys and hubby with a reminder that mom's day is a coming and I have been surrounded by "all men" for long enough.... :)......................(even the dog.. for heavens sake)......

oh rene .. i adore giving a dolly class called: Dolly From My Heart. We don't use patterns at all! The girls are always AMAZED at how wonderful their dollies come out when they use their 'heart and hands' .. and IMAGINATION. AND they are usually quite surprized to find out that their dollies DO resemble them in some ways .. even if they look totally OPPOSITE of them in reality .. i tell them that their 'inner spirit' .. of who they really are often comes out in their first dollies.
oh come and visit .. we'll make dollies together!
tell ya' what .. SOMEDAY if we can all get our dates together .. i'll come that way and teach your chapter to make dollies! (will be happy to do it for other chapters too!) i'll be happy to pay my airfare (i love to travel!) .. jus' will wanna' stay at the home of one of the gurlz during my stay.
i was sooooooooooooooooooo hoping to get to maryjane's farm next week to teach. right now .. i gotta' concentrate on not accidentally killing myself with this new insulin pump. and about my two girls.
SOMEDAY SOON! xo

LUCINDY
Come, sit by me, Lucindy, And hear what I would do, Were you my little mother, And I a doll like you.
If you a lovely secret Should whisper in my ear, I would not keep on staring As if I did not hear.
And when you sang, Lucindy, Your sweetest lullabies, And said, "The dear is sleeping," I'd try to close my eyes.
Or, s'pose that in the twilight We two were taking tea, I would pretend to eat, dear, The bread you held for me.
In fact, my dear Lucindy, I'd give my brightest curl, Were you less like a dolly, and more like a little girl.
INSTEAD OF THE VINTAGE SHOE .. 'LUCINDY' WILL BRING WITH HER A VINTAGE TEA CUP AND SAUCER (CHILD-SIZE) .. DIDN'T WRITE THIS CUTE POEM .. BUT THOUGHT IT 'WENT' WITH HER!

ROSABEL
I whispered to my Dolly, And told her not to tell. (She's a really lovely Dolly, Her name is Rosabel).
"Rosy, I said, stop smiling, For I've been dreadful bad! You mustn't look so pleasant, As if you felt real glad!
"I took mamma's new ear-ring, I did, now, Rosabel, And I never even asked her, Now, Rosy, don't you tell!
"You see I'll try to find it Before I let her know; She'd feel so very sorry To think I'd acted so."
Still Rosabel kept smiling; And I just cried and cried .. And while I searched all over, Her eyes were opened wide.
"Oh, Rosy, where I dropt it I can't imagine, dear," And still she kept on smiling, .. I thought it very queer.
I had wheeled her 'round the graden In her stoller till I was lame; Yet when I told my trouble, She smiled on - just the same!
Her hair waved down her shoulders Like silk, all made of gold, I kissed her, then I yelled at her, Oh, dear! how I did scold!
"You're really naughty, Rosy, To look so when I cry. When my mamma's in trouble I never laugh; not I."
And still she kept on smiling, The queer, provoking child! I shook her well and told her Her conduct drove me wild.
When .. only think! -- that ear-ring Fell out of Rosy's hair! When I had dressed the darling; I must have dropped it there.
She doubled when I saw it And almost hit her head; Again, I whispered softly, And this is what I said:
"You precious, precious Rosy! Now, I'll go tell mama How bad I was .. and sorry .. And Oh, how good you are!
"For Rose, I hadn't lost it .. You knew it all the while, You knew I'd shake it out, dear And that's what made you smile."
(I DIDN'T WRITE THE POEM ABOVE .. IT'S IN A VERY OLDE BOOK THAT I HAVE .. AND I JUST LOVED IT .. AND THE NAME .. 'ROSABEL' .. INSTEAD OF THE 'MOUSE' .. ROSABEL WILL BE BRINGING A VINTAGE 'TEA CUP AND SAUCER')

"GLORY"
Little GLORY is passionate about her Country!
She refuses to wear anything except 'stars and stripes' in shades of RED, WHITE and BLUE!
The 'nawth' and the 'south' have just reunited and times have been tough .. Glory is from Kentucky .. and her family did not take sides .. but were always there to feed both the blue and the grey when they tramped through their town. The farm families would take them in and nurse their wounds.
Glory tells of two 'sojurs' who were wounded and both brought to her gran-poppa's farm and had beds side by side whilst they healed.
They had no hate for one t'other .. and could often be heard well into the night talkin' about their homes and their own families.
They discovered they both loved fishin' and farmin' .. and each of them had sisters back-home. GLORY especially loved hearing them tell funny stories of the 'town boys' who would come to 'woo' them!
She listened and learned how each of them had good hearts and she learned that each of them were passionate about their home-states (Gawja and Mary-land is how they each sed their state names.)
Whilst they were in the keepin' and care of the lovin' home of her Grans .. Gen'als Grant and Lee signed a piece of paper whut ended that turrible war an' a coupla' months later, when they were able, they both went off and walked together a fur piece down the road t'il GLORY saw them shake hands and one turn nawth and one turn south.
"This 'sperance' showed me that whilst we kin come from opp'sit sides of the land .. ef'fen we jus' sit down and TALK with re'spek .. lak we wuz' talkin' to someone in our fam'bly .. we kin work out any problems we might have."
Glory still wonders if they ever saw each other again.

CYNTHIA ANN
Cynthia Ann is my oldest child .. She's not the least bit pretty. She's made of rag and her clothes are worn .. but she's sweet and good and witty.
My other children (five in all) .. Are made of bisque or china, Clara Louise and Michael John and Prue and May and Dinah.
But Cynthia Ann is really best .. She's so serene and steady; When unexpected things occur .. It's Cynthia Ann that's ready.
Just listen to this! One summer night ... The moon was full and round and bright
Into the nursery softly gliding .. A fairy came on a moonbeam riding. She twinkled with light; her folded wings .. Were the loveliest, softest, gossamer things!
She looked about, and she said: "Dear me! .. What a curious household this must be! Dolls all rumpled, the doll-house bare .. With upset furniture here and there!
A tea-set broken and blocks about .. and a calico cat with it's eye put out! This isn't the place for fairy or elf .. I'll fly away from it fast, myself!"
But just as she turned to ride away .. The midnight chimes began to play, And 'ere they'd got to the stroke of five .. the dolls and animals came alive.
(They always do in the dead of night .. Whenver the moon is round and bright).
Now Clara Lousie and Dinah stood .. As stiff as if they'd been made of wood; And Michael John and Prue and May .. Just stared and hadn't a word to say.
*You'd think they'd never been brought up right .. And i've taught them manners with all my might! But Cynthia Ann, she saw at a glance .. The awkward side of each circumstance.
She said to the fairy: "How do you do? .. You've come to call? That is dear of you - Excuse disorder - one moment, please .. Come, children, clear away all of these!"
And in just a minute the room began ..to look as neat as a nursery can. The blocks in order, the chairs set right .. The children's dresses all pressed and white.
Before the fairy could say, "Dear me!" ..Cynthia Ann was pouring tea. While the calico kitten sat close by ..Wth a neat white bandage over its eye!
When the fairy rose at the end to go, .. She said: "My dears, I've enjoyed it so! Such a lovely house! Such a cozy call! ..Drop in at Fairyland, one and all. I'm always at home by five each day". ..Then she summoned her moonbeam and rode away.
Perhaps you wonder how I know ..What happened there that night? Next morning in the nursery all ..Was orderly and bright;
Each toy was in it's proper place ..The children trim and neat. I loved them all, but Cynthia Ann .. was twice as good and sweet.
I knew these things had come to pass .. While I was tucked in bed, For Cynthia Ann, she told me all .. And this is what she said:
"I did my very best, you know; ... 'T'was just because I love you so."
