at the Burlington Antique Show...Such a fun day, looking, eating, talking...now, the first photo is of the girls, and then the second is the one they made me get in, and you'll know WHY I like to be the one taking photos ...
We had such a fun day...Miss Wilma's co-booth friend from Jessamine County made wonderful chicken salad and deviled eggs, and there were sandwiches and chips--good picnic food with friends, for sure. For dessert we had two kinds of pie, Sweet Potato and Apple (Jus's favorite) and Miss Wilma made some heavenly fudge that we snacked on while loading up her store when the rain decided it was here to stay (about 2:00).
I went with a budget in mind, and honestly, wasn't quite sure what I was looking for except for a teapot that I wouldn't be afraid to use since I broke my old english made Sadler teapot (it was redware and crashed onto the floor in a gazillion pieces)...Anyhoo, Jus was the first to find something he couldn't live without... WWII handdrawn envelopes from a soldier (a medic) to his mom, his girl and his brother. The collection included about 20 or so, so he had to PICK!!! He was there FOREVER!!! But, going to school for journalistic cartooning and being a WWII nut, these really caught him:
My big purchase was this old metal farm sign, advertising a type of sheep. I liked that it was a woman, introducing this breed (the sheep of the future--HISTORY MAKER no less ) and I liked that it was from Eaton, Ohio, a place I've been to many times over the years where some relatives lived. I like to by signs that have a tangible connection for me...sorry about the poor photo
My $5.00 McCoy teapot...it works and it was cheap enough so I'm not afraid to use it!
Good day, good friends!!!

Miss Wilma, I'm so glad you had an opportunity for a nap! We both did the same thing, actually...after a pot of tea in my new teapot, we both settled down and were quick asleep with dogs and cats to keep us toasty! Can't wait till you come back next time...I'll help!!!

Fabriholics can't be cured, or at least we don't want to be cured :) It's what Larry calls "those rags in boxes" and I tell him it's fabric, not rags. Silly men, they just don't always understand. Glad you did well on what you sold. Did the rain cut the day short? |

Hey guys - sorry that it took me so long to get on here. I ended up stopping by Georgetown on the way home to the Peddler Mall and got a few goodies, came home, and then went over to my friends. I cannot believe how bad traffic was the first time I tried to leave (for those that don't know, it took over 30 minutes to go about 2 miles). Then I came home, took a nap, ate some YUMMY pie - holy cow Martha Stewart has nothing on Jonni! I warmed it up and hubby & I shared them both. I finally got through all the goodies and took photos. Every time I went out to one side or the other, here I came with sack fulls. Wilma was getting a kick out of it.
Wilma - you remember that American Flag that I paid $1 for? I counted the stars and it has 47 of them!!
There was a really nice fabric booth that I ended up going to twice. I thought that butterfly embroidery was a table runner. Come to find out, it was a set of brand new pillows. They are just beautiful. I also got a bunch of childrens coloring books from back in the day and they don't have a mark on them or anything.
I had a wonderful time and I'm glad that I ended up going afterall. It was great meeting Jonni & Jus (it was hillarious her saying Jus and I'm use to folks yelling Jess so I thought she was hollering at me..haha)...and meeting Janice & David. We had a great bunch around us, about 10 of us in our group and then the wonderful folks beside us.
Lots of great buyers came through even as we were packing up. I'm so ready for the next round. :-p
Girls - I just realized something....we had planned on meeting in Berea on May 17th & Burlington is on the 18th. Would you guys like to meet up in Burlington again and we can do Berea another month? That way Wilma won't have to travel back and forth.
I'll post some photos here in a few.
I'm still cracking up over the "Sheep of the Future" sign. :-)

How nice to see the pictures! Miss Wilma if my black hair turns as pretty as yours I will be very happy! And I don't think it will be long before that happens either. Looks like you girls had a really nice time. We all wish we could have been there too. NANCY JO
