I am probably not the first person to figure this out, but I was knitting a scarf for my daughter using chenile and the threaded ribbon that is usually mixed with yarn to make a speckled effect. Instead I just knitted with it to make an edge, and low and behold it makes a lovely lace when it is knitted in stockinette stitch. I decided to alternate panels of mixed chenille and ribbon and then just ribbon and the scarf is turning out gorgeous!
I have just finished the Einstein Coat from (I think) the Purl Book or it may have been the Knitter's Book (I can't remember). I used black baby alpaca and really large black buttons. I loved the way it turned out and can't wait to wear it this winter. I live in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and it will take a while for it to get cold enough to wear it here. Probably late October. If anyone else has made this coat and had any problems with the weight of it pulling on the seams, please write me as I have been given some great tips to correct this problem.
Looking forward to chatting with fellow knitters. Diane dg7954 farmgirl at heart |
