I think I'd like to join in on this as your last person, if that's okay. We're saving for an American Girl doll for my 8 year old daughter's birthday; she REALLY wants one, but says she knows she won't get one since they're so expensive. . .she gets the books out of the library and then fixes up her own dolls to look kinda like the ones in the book. I think this would be a great addition to her bday gift (and her bday is mid-June)!! So, I'd love to join in and make 6 outfits.

Sheila,
If I come across another one, I'll be sure to pick it up. I'm thinking the one I'm sending to Jessica-they had no idea it was a pricey doll, cause I paid only about $5 for it. Not all thrift shops are too sharp on the pricing.

Linda found these links and thought you might like them. They are free internet patterns. The first one is a dress and the second is a bonnet.

Betty...did Ronna want to join this swap? I think it was SheilaC. I think Ronna was just dropping by. Not sure.

yeah, I'm just standing on the sidelines wanting to do it and know better than to obligate myself. Maybe that deadline would kick start me, but I wouldn't want to chance on being the one to not get them done. I'll just hope you ladies post photos and I can see what you've made.

I am watching "Little House on the Prairie" and getting some ideas/inspirations. I see little hats almost flat but with shape and flowers on the top. They are dressy and cute. Something easy is black choker ribbon with flower on it.
The girls wore full pinafores with a high yoke. Mom's had full aprons when working in the house and going to town usually white or pastel blouse and darker skirts. I also saw Nellie wearing a nice blouse with large ruffle on the sleeve cap (at the shoulder). It's nice. She is the little girl always dressed up.
I love all their clothes! Have you seen the show lately?

Check out www.betsyvintage.com Prices are high, but she has lots of vintage patterns. Other stuff too. Lots that I recognize from my own stash. Does everyone have a doll for modeling the cute clothes you make? I still have a couple in the right size range if anyone is interested.

I have a dolly to model clothes, but no digital camera to take pictures (I'm a troglodyte, I know) so I probably won't be able to post photos.

I'm definitely having fun starting the design process though! If I can only resist making a set of matching dresses for my daughter I'll probably even get them done on time!

Best,

Robin
