ROFLOL!!! Oooh goodness! So I was making a pot of soup for the week this evening...delicious smelling potato/brocolli/cheddar soup! While I had the lid off, and was stirring it, I had my phone tucked between my ear and my shoulder, chatting away....

My father came up behind me and poked me in the ribs... and as I jumped, I involuntarily added another ingredient to the soup... my cell phone!!

It took me a minute to fish it out with the spoon, since the soup was boiling hot, and by the time I got it out, it was sparking away.

So tomorrow's mission? Find a new phone and hope the sim card is still good to go!

Completely random post, ladies, but it gave me a good dose of laughter for the day. I think I shall try to avoid phones in the kitchen from here on out...or just put dad on dish duty.

Jodi, hehe... Sorry but that was funny. I had something similiar happen to me at work a few weeks ago. It was really cold out and I had just came in from putting something in the mail box. I have a cordless phone for when I go out of the office so I won't miss any calls. I stopped at the restroom on the way back and the phone rang. My hands were stiff from the cold and as I tried to answer it I dropped the phone into the toliet. The phone was ruined to say the least, but the good thing to come out of it is that I have a better phone now.

Oh No Jodi!

I had a friend loan me his brand new- and very expensive cell phone on my 21st birthday. Well we came home that night after having a new (not that many!) drink and I threw my clothes in the wash because they smelled like the bar *yuck* and only after the wash had been running for 5-10 minutes did I remember the phone had been in my pant's pocket!! ACK!

Of course it was ruined and we had to buy our friend a new phone.

Dropping my very expensive Bebe RX glasses in my dd's oven on Christmas-didn't find them till 2 weeks later when they looked like an art projest!!!

My hubby dropped our camera with all of our Maui phots in the toilet!!! Good by vacation photos!!!!

Elaine, I had a friend who did the exact same thing with her cell phone. What's really terrible about her story, though, is she took it apart, cleaned it up, and continues to use it to this day. At that point, I would have just bought a new phone!! Lol! But that is the main reason I won't buy an iPhone, Alee!! As much as I'd like to have one, the moment I get something more expensive, I'm sure it will end up in the wash or such... or in a pot of soup.

o.k. gurlfrenz .. my cell phone caper! i have it set for an alarm to go off at 9 a.m. each morning (to remind me to take my pills!) .. by the way girls .. i found it to be a GREAT idea .. because even if the battery is dead .. the alarm will STILL go off on my phone! when i can't find it .. at 9 a.m. each morning .. i listen carefully and run like the dickens to get to where the ringing is coming from!

well, one morning .. it didn't ring .. and we don't get cell phone reception down in this little 'holler' .. so i couldn't even call it .. wouldn't matter if the battery was indeed up and running and the phone turned on!

i tore the car apart thinking it might be in there .. NOPE! sooooooooo .. since i didn't hear it in the house .. i figured i MUST have left it somewhere .. like at a store or something!

later that day .. i was taking the laundry out of the WASHING MACHINE .. and yep! there it was .. in my jean's pocket!

AND .. there is a little red DOT inside the camera .. somewhere near the battery .. if that turns DARK .. your phone is HISTORY!

my phone wasn't two weeks olde and we did NOT buy the 'insurance plan' .. but 'somehow' that miracle man of mine talked them into giving me a brand new phone.

like he sez: 'sometimes your 'talk' is good .. sometime's it's NOT!' this time .. it wuz!

i ALWAYS check all POCKETS before anything goes into the laundry .. AND i avoid EVER slipping my phone into any pocket. i have a collection of those wonderful little 'necklace like purses' that it fits in perfectly when i'm travelling or out .. AND it is within easy reach if it rings!

those are my three 'advices' about cell phones:

set an alarm to go off at a specific time each day
NEVER put your cell phone in a pocket
wear cute little 'necklace pockets'
(kinda' like the ones you can slip eye-glasses into.
mine are big enough to hold BOTH my glasses and cell phone.

My Dh washed his new phone about a week after he got it. Well being the fix it guy he is, he put it in the oven he uses to bake paint onto motorcycle engines left it over night. Presto everything works except the camera. The same week his ancient desk top stopped working. Black screen of death. So Mr. Fix It takes it apart, parts everywhere inside it. He takes a walk. I think I hear him yelling and swearing. Comes back with solder iron, wire and paper clips. Computer works like a charm. Up side he can fix most everything, downside I very rarely get anything new as NOTHING ever is unfixable it seems. People give us their old stuff when they buy new.
