Our new biddies(baby chicks) arrived yesterday just in time for our record low last night. It was quite a day getting them settled in the brooder. Long story. We have bantams(B.B. red, golden and silver seabrights) silver and golden polish, dominiques or domineckers as we call them, light brahmas, turkens, and buff orpingtons Here they are in the brooder yesterday evening.
3 didn't make it through the shipping and we lost 3 more of the weak bantams last night. I know they had a hard trip. We are hoping to start raising each of the different breeds. I hope it goes smoothly now.
Awww they sure are cute!! I love chickens. I can't have any in town, but someday when we move out to the country..... We lived in a abig ol farm house when we first mved to Kansas. We shared this house with my mom. She bought a number of chickens and then I add some silkies. I love all chickens but felt we needed a few fluffy chickens. LOL
Yep, cute! I'm sorry you lost a few. I hope the rest enjoy an interesting life on your farm, I'm sure they'll at least be interesting entertainment. Ha! I love it---domineckers :D
Congrats on the new additions to your farm family! Silver Seabrights are my very favorite type of Bantam...and I can't wait to get some of my own. They're adorable!
When we received our shipment it took nearly an hour to get all the chicks situated. Takes a long time to to dip beaks in water for each individual chick I hate doing it but to date haven't ever lost any due to lack of water or finding the food.
My ears were nearly ringing for all the peeping going on---that and working beneath a red brooder lamp is enough to make anyone loopy for a few minutes!
