Wondered if anyone has heard of this? http://www.earthhour.org

For one hour on March 29th at 8pm. they are challenging every household, business, etc. to turn their lights off for one hour. You can sign up on their web site. There is also lots of good information as well.

Hi Ladies! Don't forget about this tonight! One hour of darkness. It will be interesting to see if Moscow gets dark or not. If it weren't a waste of gas, I would put Nora in our car to drive around and see. I guess I will have to see from our front porch.

This is such a big event up here! It's caught on like wildfire. All kinds of major cities are shutting their lights down, even the CN Tower is turning off it's lights!
We're turning off at 8pm-9pm. Bring on the Dominoes and crazy eights :)

We're going to a concert, so our lights will be off!

Cool!

Nora will be asleep, and Doug will be at work. Maybe I will just curl up and go to sleep early tonight. Or maybe I will burn my oil lantern and read a book in the bathroom by lantern light.

I forgot. I was painting Lauren's room anyways and that would have been hard to do in the dark. LOL

I turned off my lights, listened to an audiobook for a little while, burned my oil lantern for a little while, then went to bed. I was a bit disappointed to see lights glowing all over Moscow though, and almost every house on the block lit up like a Christmas tree. :( Oh well. Perhaps next year there will be a better response! :D

We were the only dark house in our neighborhood as well, Alee. I had a hard time convincing my dh and ds to turn off the NCAA game though! I loved how peaceful our house was, sitting in the dark with just a few candles burning to light our way to other rooms. I think I am going to do this often. Unless my family rebels too much, I think it would be lovely to sit silently every now and then.
