I had reason recently to mee my client, Gaye, at a Starbucks. I hardly ever go to Starbucks and I couldn't quite remember what she looked like and suddenly I realized I was in deep doggie do.

I looked at all the tall blondes sitting or standing alone and thought to myself..."Should I walk up to any of them and ask if they're Gaye?" I pictured myself shrinking in horror and decided I'd wait until somebody approached me instead.

Still musing,
Patricia

Oh gosh!! That happens to me all the time, but especially while I was in the military. I would get introduced to someone, most likely male, and with everyone wearing the same uniform, I couldn't remember who was who and I would have to ask in some cryptic way to find out who I was supposed to be talking to.

Yeah....so what did you do??

Cheers,
Heather

I just sat there until Gaye came in and recognized me. Another disaster averted.

Still musing,

I have that same problem at work. All the officers are in the same uniform and almost all of them are bald! I can keep the bigger guys straight, and the ones that have been there a long time, but I always confuse the skinny little new guys.

How about the greeting, "Hi there, skinny new guy!"?

I hate when that happens! Glad you made it there ahead of time so that she had to find you! (Another reason for being on time for appointments, methinks!)

Lisa and Heather, you crack me up! I have the same problem. When I see the kitchen guys in street clothes instead of kitchen whites, I always have to think for a minute!

I have the opposite problem, I see people I recognize but I don't know where from, or I know where from but I don't remember their name, or I know their name but I don't think they remember me, so do I say something or not...
I don't know if it's the exact opposite, but nearly opposite.
