What are your favorite books for lets say kids 6 and under?
I always loved the Little Golden Books when I was a kid. The Poky Little Puppy and such were so much fun to read, especially as they are easy to read for the very beginning reader.
I am starting to think about a library selection for Nora as she gets older and would love your input!

My kids' all time favorite was the Golden book The Color Kittens, it is so sweet, also Over in the Meadow, but they haven't been printing that one for years, I always check the thrift store selections of Golden book, hoping to get another copy. My daughter (she's 24) stuill has hers, she gnawed a big piece off the back cover when she was teething. All of Margaret Wise Brown's books are really delightful. My mother gave away all my childhood books to my older halfsister's kids and I've never forgiven her. My kids are always saying, you won't get rid of these will you? and I assure them, no way. Another delightful one is a rhyme book by Clyde and Wendy Watson, Catch Me and Kiss Me and Say it Again. They've written other nice ones too. I don't know if that is still in print. Oh yeah, Daniel Pinkwater's Roger's Umbrella is another treasure. I could just go on and on, nothing is more fun than reading to kids. Karin

Peter Cottontail books, by Beatrix Potter
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
I Love You Forever- I love that book! I read it in the middle of a bookstore for the first time, years ago when my son was little, and I was expecting her highness. I was reduced to a puddle after I finished reading it. (I ususally don't cry in public, at all. Ever.)We still have it.
Where the Wild Things Are, and Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak
Of course, who could forget Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess
