I know it is generally advised to store your dried herbs in an amber airtight bottle. I was wondering if a tin would be okay? My neighbor goes through one of those International Delight Coffee tins a week. I thought with the plastic lid and all it might work, and making a label for the tin might be kind of fun! It would also permit the whole leaf of say, Basil, be stored inside rather than broken up.
no..I have used tins alot...I say go for it..just make sure you can get the chocolate coffee smell out of all the tiny cracks and crevices (maybe a brush would help) so it dosn't effect the taste of the herbs.

I have even used ziplock bags with all the air squeezed out and stored in a cool dark cupboard. I like jars best just cause i like to use fun labels on them. Biggest thing is to make sure they are completly dry or they will mold.
