In order to cut back expenses, I had to take a hard look at where I personally spend alot of molaa. Personal care products and clothing are my 2 biggest expenditures. So I simplified things:
1)Hair- is really short, I buy the largest bottle of shampoo and conditioner and it has been lasting me months. I use a little hair "putty" for a funky, easy style and that little jar has lasted me 2 months so far. I used to have 15 hair "products" alone (yes I counted)along with a comb, I am set on that. I did let me whites grow in and I do hi-lite at the salon to off set the harshness but I do that every 3 months.

2) Skin- good moisturizing cleanser, light moisturizer- both bought in bulk (hubby uses my moisturizer-shhh!! don't tell )
Make up- hi lite/concealer stick, mascara(one thing I would take on a desert island), lavendar eyeliner, face tint (like a blush but for all over the face)and clear lipgloss/balm. I keep my eyebrows well groomed. Along with tweezers and a eyebrow brush/trim scissors, this routine has simplified my life. Again- I used to have over 30 items in my bag.
I will add toe separators and my bottle of Cherries in the Snow. I do get a pedicure every 2 weeks due to a bad back (all that bending over was killing me)Deodorant and a creamy body butter, large bottle of body wash (for cleaning and shaving), razor, toothbrush, floss, toothpaste round out my bag.

3) Clothes- Simple cotton dresses, t-shirts (wide variety here of long and short sleeve), a few button down shirts in black or white, Jeans in all washes but must fit appropriately, 10 pairs of shorts (it IS TExas and I gotta be cool) and a variety of tank tops, cowgirl boots, flip flops, ballet flats for work, work clothes are still being modified. I still love my clothes but am no longer a slave to fashion- if they don't let me wear jeans, I ain't going!!! (special occasions do not count)

Seriously, I have cut my expenses, especially in the personal care aisle, down to pennies. Simple is better!!!

Cheers,
Heather

I am too.
I will have to seeing that we are starting to build our retirement home on the family farm
I too buy the large bottles of shampoos. My favorite is the Tresmee'OO La La,-- thee he, remember that one?
I love their moose,
My hair is really baby fine, and it won't hold curls clips or any thing you want it to hold or do
I get it cut really short in the summer, I have arthiris and fibromyalaia too plus other conditons and diseases and cannot style my hair much,
So, I have to cut back on lots of different things to afford my medicines too
I buy in bulk when I can at the Sam's club
you know things that you buy and need .
I go to Wally-mart too, it helps there too.
It takes some effort to cut back and still get quality products that do the same as the high priced ones
My Mom's Mom and Mom taught me the value of money ; "putting back for hard times"
Gran grew up in the depression, She used every thing she good, did without a lot, and saved ( there were 13 children in Gran's family)
Use it up ; wear it out; or do without,
