I have my grandmother's old quilting frame, which is a really wonderful thing to have. My problem is, I don't really quilt, and if I did, I would probably just use a big embroidery hoop to make it more portable. I'd like to be able to display the frame somehow, but it's so big set up. Does anyone else have something like this that they've found a way to display?

| I have seen both the quilt frame top mounted on a wall (rather like an empty picture frame) just so one could enjoy the beauty of the wood and the history of the item, and also seen them hung (as in the old days when the women had so little room in such small homes) from the ceiling, both with a finished quilt in the frame and with out (as a piece of art and or conversation piece).Don't know if this helps..hope so. Wish i had something that cool from my granma! |

Hi girls! I'm newe but I've been reading this thread and am charmed by the idea that somebody besides me loves aprons!. I made the cutest one for my granddaughter last year out of 40s themed kids cotton fabric. But I shied away from making some for myself for two reasons 1. I'm a plus size and the patterns all seem to be made for small ladies and 2. I didn't think I wanted to look that old=fashioned. BUT I DO! Husband (the Nutty Professor) and I bought this 1921 bungalow a few months ago and moved to Salt Lake City. We furnished it in Arts and Crafts period furniture that we both love. So now I'm making dish towells and hot pads and all kinds of neat stuff. Aprons will fit right in. (and I won't have to find a towell to wipe my hands on, heh heh). Anybody have any ideas for plus sized aprons? Thanks and God bless.

Hi Patricia, have a look through the apron topic and I think you'll find a couple references in amongst the 10+ pages of info on sources for plus size apron patterns. Aunt Jenny has one, I know. Glad that you've joined in the gang here!

Patricia...go to www.theCalicocat.com They have adorable patterns in plus sizes. The 1941 pattern I use alot goes all the way up to a VERY generous 2x. Sounds like we have another apron convert gals!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo hoo! Thanks, girls!. You definitely have another apron convert. There's got to be something we can do with our passion. Any ideas on selling them? Ebay? Do you think there's enough apron fans out there? We could give all or some of the profit to charity. What do you think? I mean, after we've made aprons for everyone in our family and all our friends....um....kinda reminds me of quilting...We do what we love and give them away and everybody thinks we're generous when we're just feeding our habits, heh heh.
Also, does anyone want some copies of the paper fanatic's best pals, Somerset Studios magazines? I have copies of Legacy and I think a couple of Belle Armoire and a couple of Somerset Studios that I would like to give away. I buy them because I scrapbook and make note paper for my family and friends with my old vintage family photos. they love them, but the mags are piling up. If someone wants them, let me know and I'll send them via media mail.
