Anyone have "Asparagus Fern"? It's a houseplant that has long thing green "branches" with ultra narrow green leaves. It reaches towards the sunlight if it isn't in a bright enough spot and I have read it can blossom with white flowers in the exact right conditions.

My mom gave me one and I love it. It seems to be doing well which is great as I have a tendency to kill non-hardly plant life inside the house. I keep forgetting to give them water! Oops!

Anyway, this is a fun plant and seems easy to grow. Anyone have growing tips or experience with this plant?

They are such pretty plants. I know my cats would eat them so I have to stick to the mother-in-law's tongue plants. And I was so glad when you posted the information about plants that help clean the air, and that I actually had some! Karin

Yes, I grew up in FLorida where they can grow outside. They put up with anything, including a kindergartner pulling all those needle-like leaves off because it's fun!

I have one of these ferns given to me by a dear friend in LA but they are finicky up here in my experience...I have left it at my mamas for four years as I have moved around since they don't like to travel much;) I will get it next time I am up in Spokane and bring it down- I love to cut a few bits and put them in a little fishbowl vase with roses- the foliage is so lacy and I remember laying Bella under it as a baby, it was the perfect mobile until she could reach it (oh I hope it is not poisonous). We were sad to miss you and Nora in Spokane this weekend, it was a blast to meet all the farmgirls up there. I only wish I could have stayed longer to visit with everyone, Jack was tired and Bella got antsy toward the end.
Well, have a good night and enjoy your fern;)

I love the light airy foliage. Down here they grow like a weed, but are harder to get rid of than weeds. I've been trying for 5 years to get one out of my shade garden to no avail.
