Hey FarmGirls, after reading your assorted posts & blogs, I get the idea you are all a lot like me and you talk to yourselves. Is this true?

I am an only child, I have no children and I am here at my (micro, mini,) farm alone most of the thyme. Does all this factor into why I talk to myself? Don't know. Does it factor in for you?

One of my favorite quotes (Miss Wilma, I can't believe i forgot this saying until now, i should have added it to the favorite sayings discussion of olde...) regards talking to oneself and it goes like this:

"Talking to oneself is a sign of intelligence, & answering oneself is a sign of insanity!"

So, the better poll question might just be - do you answer yourself? You don't have to answer this one in the event it might incriminate you...

I am really looking forward to your answers...

Since I have one more "fun" prize made up & available, it is left over from the Miss Wilma "fun" of the last few weeks, I will take a drawing of names from this poll and send the winner a lavender hankie sachet, a small packet of my premium bay leaves and a sm. pkt of lemon verbena tea.

Love, Karen

Karen - yes, I talk to myself all the time. Sometimes I talk to inanimate objects, which counts as talking to myself, too. I just asked this computer screen "What is the name of that beautiful rosebush in that photo?" I want one of those! Seriously, I've always talked to myself. And I get the best answers that way! :D

Thanks, Karen. I'll be looking for it in my catalogs. Is it a climber? It sure makes a statement! :)

Beautiful picture!
Absolutely lovely.

And yes, I do talk to myself. Sometimes I ask myself questions, sometimes I exclaim something, and sometimes I repeat a conversation I've had, my own little play-by-play...

I always talk to myself. I even will start chuckling to myself for no reason and drive my family crazy. I live in my own little world, apparently.

I talk to myself alot now that I have my son. I have gotten so used to having one-sided conversations with my baby that I have them even when he is not around. ;) I used to wonder all the time why my mother talked to herself so much, but now I know. Even before I had Wyatt I would talk to myself, usually when I did something dumb. But now, I would say my converations with myself have tripled at least. Glad I am not the only one.

i chatter to myself all the time. my mama says i've done it since i was a baby. i agree with toni, that having kids makes it worse. 1) you become use to having oneside converstaions anyway and 2)sometime you just have to talk to a grown up. yes, i answer myself and i usualy get pretty good replys! one of the things i do that the kids just get a kick out of, it talking to the phone...not on it too it. when i'm waiting on a call i'll just tell that stupid phone to ring so i can get on with life. it just cracks the kiddos up.

I always talk to myself! I have since I was a kid. I also talk to people who aren't there. I guess I sort of have imaginary friends.

So funny! I can just see you all chattering to yourselves!
Me? I have 5 kids -those that are grown call me daily and those that are here talk to me constantly. I also have 7 grand kids and a score of valuable friends-my point? Well- I talk to myself to keep others from interrupting!I solve great dilemmas this way!
At least I like the solutions-
I can't imagine being alone- it is beyond me.

Blessings,

I talk to myself all the time...it helps keep me on track and it gets me through problems by helping me sort them out. Problems only arise when I argue with myself and I don't win!!! ; )

Honestly, I don't talk to myself because there isn't one minute in the day that my two year old baby girl isn't talking to me ASKING me something...so IF she does stop talking I usually just enjoy the sound of silence : )

Oh, I talk to myself all the time. From the day they were born, I talked to my kids like I expected an answer and of course one day they would answer(and usually never shut-up). They all had great vocabularies for their age and I always wondered if that was why. When I worked in surgery one of the new girls was always trying to answer me but finally figured out I was only talking to myself.
Then at a quilt retreat one of the newer people who didn't know the rest of us too well finally asked us to all be quiet. We were all talking to ourselves and she couldn't figure out who to answer. It must be pretty bad.

i talk to my self (it seems like very loudly sometimes, too) but only in my mind. i do talk out loud to my two kitty cats...sammy and olivia. however, when my kids were little, i always talked, to them, and answered as well when they were babies, and to myself as well,....it was the only way to keep sane!! pretty picture!! have a great day!!

Oh ya I talk to myself!!! Especially when sewing, and not always when I am alone. My husband used to laugh at me but I have caught him doing it too. I talk to my dogs like they are human (they think they are), the flowers, people that have passed.
