We're in for a total eclipse of the moon tonight! Given clear skies, we'll be able to see the full moon become completely immersed in the Earth's shadow. This will be the third total lunar eclipse within the past year. The previous two favored different parts of North America, but this one will be readily visible from start-to-finish across much of the continent. The total phase will last 51-minutes and begins at 10:01 p.m. EST (7:01 p.m. PST).

Darn, it's cloudy here, so I can't see the moon at all... the really neat thing, though, is that the whole sky is RED!!!.. I've seen eclipses before, but I've never seen an entirely red sky... it's pretty cool...

This is another thread somewhere else--but oh well--let's continue here. We have a low cloud layer so the moon had to struggle through and then by the time it emerged it was 1/2 covered. I couldn't get a good picture because (duh) it was dark out. Yesterday I got a beautiful picture which I posted elsewhere. We had to go down to the valley to view because we have too many trees up here and now we are home and still no moon yet. We tried and it was fun. MB
