Amanda- Actually it is just a dirt road. It looks like black top in the photo because it is the dark dark soil of the palouse. BTW I can't believe you said "Holy Moly" to the whiteness of my leg Miss-I-Glow-In-The-Dark-AND-the-Sunshine (just kidding! You know I love you)

Those trenches are almost gulley size. I agree, it's amazing what power water has and how quickly it can transform things.
