Believe it or not, it has been slowly melting here, too. We've actually been seeing sunshine off and on for the past 4 or 5 days. The promise of spring is showing! I just love it. I'm sooooo ready.

Unfortunately, it's melting the ice and snow out behind our house and it's running in under the back door. The person who added on that back room (long ago) built it right on the ground because our property slopes from high in back to low out front. So, the water is soaking into the wood and has saturated a 3' diameter spot of carpet by the back door! We've been chipping away at the ice to try to get as much potential water as possible away from the back of the house but some of the ice is 9" thick. It's been a real chore.

Looks like we're going to be doing some serious remodeling/repair this summer! Oh, well. The house may need a lot of work, but it's ours and that's all that matters.

Lisa- Sounds like you need to go get some epsom salts or ice melt and use that to help make a run off channel away from your back door!
