How is the water supply doing? Are they using stock tank heaters to melt the stream?

No, Alee, it turns out that the low water problem is due to a major leak or leaks somewhere. They said the city was losing 120,000 gallons of water per day! They've been looking and digging out meters, and testing lines but to no avail so far. The rest of us have been asked to dig out our own meters to save the city crew some time. The snow over our meter is 6-7 feet deep and packed hard. We're working on it...

Hmmm, I think the melting snow and electric heater might not get along? Just kidding. I'm considering building a fire over it, though! Haha.
