Ok ladies, not like I can do it like Frannie, but I'd love to see your decorating styles. I know we sorta did this before but I'd really like to see and maybe even get some ideas (imitation is the highest form of flattery isn't it) I just love to peek into homes! :) Bring them on.....

It seems like I only take photos around the holidays (Halloween, Easter, Christmas) so unless you're thinking of living at the Holiday Inn I probably won't post mine until I clear out for springtime :)

I would describe my style as shabby chic with french country flair. I'll be taking some photos soon due to listing our house. Boo hoo. You can get a glimpse of our sunroom though at http://picasaweb.google.com/FORRESTERFARM/4554PettisNE . It used to be an open air 24x24 deck. We were just going to screen it in, but then took it a few steps further. Granite window sills. A 6x6 clear roof cupula in the middle. Hickory floors. My husband built the whole thing. He also built pillars that go between the kitchen and living room. We took out a dividing wall and added some "splash". I love watching what my husband can build!

bridget .. remember .. i'm about 207 years old .. and have been collecting like a wild-woman for half of those years. and BELIEVE me .. my style has been referred to as 'early sanford and sons'!! Ha! my friends used to bring their husbands to our Maryland home to show it to them .. they'd say to their hubands: "SEE!!!! I'M NOT SO BAD AFTER ALL!!!" the poor men would just go running ... screaming ... into the woods! lordy!
i got me a good man .. i taught him early .. HAPPY WIFE .. HAPPY LIFE!!!
actually, oh and bear with me while i tell a sappy love story here!! .. one day i was having a large dolly club tea party ... hank ALWAYS makes an appearance at these events to regale the ladies with tales of adventures and a joke or two!
i was in the kitchen and heard one of the ladies ask him (as she was looking at the rafter with about 150 olde baskets and dollies hanging from them) .. "HANK .. DO YOU REEEEEELY LIKE ALL THIS OLD STUFF?"
I tiptoed into the to the door and hid behind it to hear his answer (he didn't see me!) and he sweetly replied as he looked up at all my 'clutter':
"noooo .. not really .. but i sure do love frannie" ... awwwwwwwwww! he's a keeper! oh and god love the man .. he bought these cabins for me even though he has to DUCK under EVERY doorway in the low-ceiling rooms.
gurlz .. i honestly believe the most wonderful decorating is with the things we LOVE .. the things that have memories or that we make memories by using. COMFY is what is truly most important to me. oh sherone .. i have lots and lots of stuff i decorate with that i got at yard sales and flea markets and thrift stores. HA! nancy and i would be doing battle for the same stuff! actually, when i used to go shopping with my maryland gurlfrenz at 'junque' shoppes and 'antiques' shoppes .. we'd all have to take a different aisle to keep from tussling on the floor over sumpthin'!! xo

My husband calls shabby chic....dirty roses. My style is sort of shabby asian country. I am going to decorate my kitchen with vintage fruit labels and polka dots. I have a clawfoot bathtub now and a pedistal sink. not sure what to do with that.

Hello,
My house is a 2006 raised ranch on the outside but 1940-50's on the inside. My DH has motorcycle shop in the basement where he restores antique bikes. My children like to say that their children will never need to go to the museum to see stuff from the old days. The can just come to Nana's and Papa's and live in the old ways. My DH does not like clutter, hence the reason we can have a motorcycle shop in the house. I hate to say it but his shop is most likely cleaner then the house. I almost did not date him because he is soooooooooo neat and tidy! I live for clutter and treasures so I clutter my half of displays and his are very neat and organized. I love old stuff that I get from thrift stores, antique stores, and rummage sales. Some of my best finds are from garbage days before the garbage man do their routes. I rarely shop with others because I have no one who enjoys the shopping I like. But then I do not have to scrap with others either. I would really like to have a Farmgirl to do shopping, decorating and scraping with over items with. I'm sure most people who come into my house think "What's with all the old stuff" and "Why is there a motorcycle in the loft?" When people meet Dave our 6'+ mannequin (he's on the stairs to my husband's motorcycle shop) that is dressed in 40's motorcycle outfit they really freak. But we love it. I'll try to take some pics today and upload them.

I don't know that my style of decorating is even considered a style. My house is kind of a mix of this and that and I always kind of thought is was boring, but I just don't know any other way. I guess decorating just isn't my thing.

My style is easy to define. I call it, "Living-with-whatever-the-previous-owners-liked-until-I-can-afford-to-replace-it-with-what-I-like." I'm not into Kountry-with-a-K stuff or oak furniture. I like old houses, especially 1920's through 1930's, and I like stuff that looks like it belongs in an old house!

My style is cheeky beach meets Texas cowgirl with a hint of vintage 1950's with a splash of shabby chic,(phew)...I have pink flamingo lights in my kitchen and yes, I do have a pink flamingo lawn ornament. I like bright caribbean colors with a toss of Texas red, white and blue in there. I especially love turquoise, hot pink (flamingo again) and lime green and a dash of white to keep it grounded...if you can ground my style!! HA!!!! Right now, I have a lot packed up until we move (again) and get out own house- then I am going to go to town.
I grew up in a basic white walled, blue, orange and biege home that was very traditional and antiquey, so I LOVE LOVE LOVE COLOR and fun stuff!!!! Especially on the wall. I also look for texture in everything. We eat off bright spiral colored plates, drink out of Margarita glasses and We use beach towels instead of regular towels.
I have always dreamed of a fun, funky, beach house and since that actual reality may be years away or even never, I decided last year to just do my house up the way I want to if I had a beach house. A lot of people comment how fun my house is and it is so different from what they would expect. I work in a really conservative office and have had a few people over and they all get a kick out of it.....
I like really comfy furnite- the bigger and more overstuffed, the happier I am. I mix in a few colorful beach/adirondack chairs and some typical windsor style chairs but recovered in fun 50's prints.
When we do get out house, I would love to do open shelving in the kitchen and have a lot of windows and french door leading to a huge porch outside, which will be surrounded by a cottage garden....
My house always makes me smile when I come through the door...

gurlfrenz .. i'm challenging myself! tomorrow .. i am going into the dreaded 'dungeon' (schoolhouse) and take photos of my 'decorating style' in there! now don't going gittin' all OPRAH on me .. or calling her to send the 'junk police' to my house when i show them to you. but i GAR-AN-TEE ya' .. none of you will EVER think your home is 'messy' after seeing this!

I am not sure what you would call my style? I love old...very old. And when I can afford to change it will be even older. 3 of my sister-in-laws (they are sisters...yes 3 of my husbands brothers married sisters) they all love country but the nice oak and everything prissy. Nothing wrong with that at all, their home is beautiful but not me. I have been in the family almost 31 years and always felt a little uncomfortable when they come to visit(this is not often)but last year I heard one of them telling a friend, you should go to Joy's house she has the neatest things and has a nack for displaying them. I would have never thought that have ever crossed her mind. ha
It is wonderful to share ideas and let your uniqueness shine through.

My style is really "morphing" lately. I was quite "English Country" and still like a lot of that, but I am really going primitive lately. There is something about the look that speaks of simplicity, longevity and peacefulness. So it is still "in the process." I will try to load some photos to the blogspot I set up and have never used! LOL!

| Northwoods Lodge is my style. We bought a newly remodeled modified A-frame house. The previous owners said they wanted a feel of a mountain retreat and they did it successfully. Feels like we're on a ski vacation all year long. Jim in fact skis in the back almost every day. JoAnn |

I think my home style is a combination: moving van full of junk store crap collides with another moving van full of old family crap, plus a smaller moving van filled with books. I live in hope that one day I'll make a wide path in each room through to the front door and the back porch...

We just had two furnaces installed. The two heat pumps are coming up soon. The next thing will be insulation. We may move into our mobile home out there this year so we can work on the house more often. I'm ready to finish! :)

Oh I would love to have the french country look but, I have a DH who loves the relaxed messy look. He hates to see the vacuum come out. He just says "everything looks fine". There is no theme to what I have in my domaine.

Frannie...if your're 207 then I'm not far behind you girl..LOL Yes, I was saying on another topic all that I collect...(and given away through the years) due to my travels...I'm 8 years into my newest collection  and it's a keeper so to speak...LOL It may go in storage (climate controlled)  again for awhile but will continue the collection that will be in my future cabin in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. WooHoo!! can't wait...after 45 years and still counting of traveling I will be sooooo glad to dig in and plant my feet for the rest of my days..But as they say, It's all about the journey...and collecting is just a wonderful thing..
