I love hearing my granddaughter talk to me. She says the most innocent and funny and wise things. I bet you all have some good stories you have heard children tell, too. What are they?
I will start with the one that comes to my mind first. My granddaughter Abigail really loves food. I mean she has a sophisticated palette for a 4 year old, and will eat anything. One day, however, I took her to lunch at a plain old Hungry Howies, a hole in the wall pizza place painted cab yellow and mostly carry out. We ordered, and I got napkins and we were waiting for them to call our name, and she smoothes her dress on her lap, and folds her hands and looks around and says "Isn't this place just lovely Nana?"

Gosh...I love children's antics. I was just telling my stepmom the other day about something my youngest did about a year ago, not long after she turned four.
One afternoon, the big kids beat her to all the eggs on the farm and she came in from the egg gathering with an empty basket. Not too long after her disapointment I saw her climbing the steps with a brimming egg basket, grinning like crazy. She had just showed the big kids up! When I asked, where she found all the eggs she just giggled, but my question was answered when I went to refrigerate her bounty and discovered the eggs were already cold. She had "gathered" eggs in the fridge.
What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing.

My favorite saying when my oldest nephew, who turns 5 tomorrow (time flies by!!) is "When I grow up I'm going be a farmer and ride a bicycle." There's a long story behind it, but it was hilarious. The best saying was on my wedding day, I came around the corner at the church to be with the gang before going in. He looked up and said "Sissy you look beautiful!" and thus the tears while coming down the aisle was compliments of that little booger!

The very best thing that Nora has ever "said" to me is "I da da" in the exact tone and cadence that I had just said "I love you" to her.

My grandson is full of them. He wrote an essay on what he was thankful for at Thanksgiving. He had all these really nice things, I am thanful for my life and my bed and house and my family etc. then he said I am thankful for my food, even if it doesn't taste too good all the time. My Mom usually cooks pretty good. One my daughter pulled was my Dad had a habit of saying never let your dingler dangle in the dirt.(one of his many sayings) Well, off goes my 5 yr. old to kindergarten and said to the teacher, oh well, like my Grandpa always say, never let your dingler dangle in the dirt. I thought the teacher was going to pass out from laughing, She had to call me up and tell me! Ah, yes out of the mouths of babes!

My 2 grandsons always come up with some funnies. They are now almost (next month) 8 and 9 1/2 and this was 2 years ago. We were out in the pasture picking up stuff. I had let Brett (7 at the time) drive the Gator down so we could fill up the dumpbed and I said 'you better get down here and help', he just looked at me and said 'I don't work, I'm the driver'. Pure Brett. MB

When my baby boy (he's 17 now) was about three, he was walking into Target with my Mom. He said "Hey Grandma, look at that fat lady". He was pointing at a VERY pregnant lady. My Mom was mortified, and explained that the lady had a baby in her tummy.
By then my Dad, who had been parking the car, caught up to them and my son asked my Dad when he was having his baby. My Dad has a good sense of humor and just chuckled.
Also, at about the same age, he was hanging out with my Brother and Dad one day. They were sitting on the front porch, watching the world go by. A lady and her little boy walked by and waved and said "hi". My son said "hi" back, and then muttered under his breath. "What a dipsh*t."
I was not happy that my sweet little boy knew THAT word!!!!! 
But, now, I can laugh about it.

little Imelda Marcos (as we sometimes call Sofia) .. she LOVES shoes .. you cannot take your shoes off in her presences without her sidling over and trying them on! At a family dinner the other day .. she was lifting the table cloth and kept peering under the table. Finally, one of the little boy cousins asked: "what is Sofia looking at" .. her mom just smiled and said .. Grandma Emma has NEW BOOTS!!
