I have 2 sergers and 2 sewing machines and all are down for repair! I can't afford to get them repaired right now..So I am venturing out into sewing by hand. And quilting by hand. I have been totally taken with mini quilts. Go to flickr.com and type in mini quilts. oh my! On my website you can see a whole wall of mini quilts. I just love it.. so that is what I am going to be up to.. any tips on piecing and sewing these by hand?

Janice, I wish they were mine. These are just the ones that brought inspiration to me. I have a ton more pictures to display in the future..

I am also working on a mini sampler quilt. I read The Prairie Girl's Guide to Life, and that inspired me to try one. It's really fun and relaxing.

Debi, thank you so very much.. To clear up any confusion- these are not my mini quilts- they were my inspiration to get started.. Aren't they pretty though. I aspire to make mini quilts just as lovely..

Oh once you begin piecing by hand, Debra, you just may not want those machines repaired! There is just something about working with my hands that takes me back to a simpler time. I really enjoy it. I have always been fascinated with mini quilts. If you ever get a chance, pick up "Living with Little Quilts" by Alice Berg & friends. It is a little hardback book that showcases little quilts and has pages & pages of color photos as well as patterns & ideas. It is truly inspiring. I keep it on my sewing table so I can peek at it often.

I just checked out your blog & have already bookmarked it. I have made a couple of little quilts and it is my goal to decorate our small hallway wall with them. The photos on your blog certainly have me inspired to get going and make another! So glad you shared them with us.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
