The kids and I went over to the fairgrounds to see how our entries did. I just entered Dill pickles, salsa and Triple berry jam and a skein of homespun yarn..and all got blue ribbons. 9 year old son entered anaheim peppers from the garden and got a blue too.
10 year old daughter got a blue for her knitted scarf, and 8 year old daughter a red for her woven coaster. 8 year old son a red ribbon for his woven potholder. Everyone was happy. It was the kid's first time entering and they are hooked for sure now.

Oh that sounds fun!!

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

Jenny, what fun! How nice that the kids got to see that a little ingenuity and hard work are rewarded! I used to love the anticipation of entering something at the 4-H fair and coming back after the judging, the suspense nearly killed me! Positive reinforcement is always a good thing! Congratulations to all of you!

with a happy heart

How fun!!!! I entered in fairs when I was young. Once I entered a pumpkin carving contest and got a WHITE ribbon. I was so embarassed, all my friends got blue or red ribbons. I had carved what I thought was a very creative LOVE and PEACE pumpkin (that dates me!), apparently the judges weren't impressed. I got lots of Blue ribbons on my sewing though.
Gee, now I really want to go to a fair!
