Alee, I think this is a great idea, I am a quilter as well as a survivor of leukemia...I would have loved to have had a quilt made for me and my mother by such a caring woman...can you let me know where I can send some 7" blocks?

Me too...I keep saving jeans for my "someday" jeans quilt like the one my grandma had. I will cut and send you a stack of squares for sure...I will need your address and will get them out right away...what a sweet idea!!

The response to this thread has been amazing. I can't wait to start getting more jean squares in the mail! I hope that these quilts will help them get through this difficult time.

If there are enough squares I will make one for each of Julia's other two kids as well. This is going to be just as hard on them as it is on Auria and Julia I think.

I will also embroider their names on them so they can keep track of whose is whose :D

Alee, I have some squares for you--embroidered a couple with fun stuff. I also have one that's a velcro pocket, so I'm going to send that one along! It reminded me of your gran's quilt you mentioned!!

Alee, I don't have any jeans but I am wondering what you are planning on using for the back? Possibly I can help in some way with that. And what about the batting? Let us know.

I have a whole roll of 4 oz batting that I bought for MJ's Christmas present, so I think that should work. If you have fabric for the backs, that would be _great_ Kathy! Otherwise I am going to use some of these great high quality banquet style table clothes that I got from a nice hotel. They are a cotton/poly blend, so I was thinking of dying them some fun colors. The dye only takes on the cotton part so it creates this nice soft look.

Alee I have I think 10 yards of some really pretty fabric that I bought last year to use for kitchen curtains. It was the Hoffman Challange fabric for 2007 and it's pretty neat, lots of butterflies and flowers, very colorful. Send me your address and I will get it out to you. Glad I could to do something to help.
Hugs, Kathy

Hi Alee! I'll send some out too, emailing for your address :) We have a large jean quilt from my hubby's mother as a cover on our guest bed and EVERYONE who sleeps under it wants to know WHERE we got it. The weight of it and warmth is so comforting *~* I'll get some sent right out and email if you need anything else added :)

Alee,
Please send me your addy (I had it a LONG time ago, but lost it). I have two pairs of jeans that belonged to my ex and I was planning to make them into skirts next week. I wont be using the legs so it works out perfectly. I wish I could help out more, but those are all I have that are despensable just now.

Hello, 27 squares are in the Priory envelope. Will mail Tuesday as the P.O is closed today. If you need more please let me know. I am so glad to get rid of those skinny jeans. Takes the pressure off to get back into them and they are going for a good use. Thanks for all your time sewing.
