Has this topic been done before? I couldn't find it and I've often wondered about it.
Tell us Farmgirls out there WHY you picked the "User Name" you did. What's the story behind the name? Or, is there one? Does it represent you well? If you could change it, would you? Why? To what?
(By the way, you can't change your User Name. Don't even try. We all know you by the one you picked. I just thought it would be interesting to hear the story behind the one you came up with!)

So, I'll go. I picked my user name without any thought whatsoever about it. I had never visited a forum before, so I didn't really know how boring my user name would turn out to be. It's true that I have always liked the image of a "country" lawyer (if you've got to be one at all.) So, that's where the name came from, that image. There are so many user names here that are so clever! and cute! So, yes. I would change it if I had it to do over again. To something friendlier and carefree and cute-sie and clever and nothing at all to do with being a boring old lawyer. |

I picked my username because out of all the crops that we farm, peanuts are my favorite. I really love that we carry on the "Virginia tradition" of farming peanuts.

Mine is extremely boring. Like you, Country Lawyer, I had never been on a forum, chatroom, etc and had no idea I could make something up! It's simply my name. Since it was already taken I added my house number. Can't get more boring than that. I would definately change it if it didn't mess things up. Though I don't know what I'd change it to.

My family has collected antique 2-cylinder John Deere's for as long as I can remember and we use to go to shows a lot. We've also collected John Deere stuff over the years. When I was little, one of our ag teachers called me "little John Deere." He has since passed away. Being that I am from KY and love John Deere stuff (even before it was 'cool' and you saw the merchandise popping up at department stores), I got my username. The numbers are my old zipcode. I did have one on here without the zipcode, but I couldn't remember the password to save my life and I had deleted that email account - thus a new one.

Well, mine sounds like the most boring one here, as it is just my last name. Nothing really creative about it. But, it was given to me by a wonderful guy, so I think I'll keep it. :) |

Well- My "real" name is Alyssa. In High School my best friend for some reason couldn't pronounce it so she nicknamed me "Alee" (pronounce Ah-Lee) and then my nieces and nephews couldn't (at first) pronounce Alyssa either so they started calling me Aunt Alee (pronounced Alley, but more often coming out as Owie hehehe) So I just stuck with Alee. I like having a nickname and now more of my friends call me Alee than by my given name!!

I have to jump in here and say that I really like the user name country lawyer! It's neat to hear other farmgirls tell how they came up with their name.
My story: when DH bought our farm three years ago, it already had a name, and as I told the seller, "he had us at the name" so I am all about Hideaway Farm + girl!

Mine has multiple meanings. #1 I am the county fair director #2 In Greek mythology, Pygmalion, the king of Cyprus, found so much fault in womankind that he resolved to live unmarried. But after painstakingly sculpting a statue of a beautiful woman that he named Galatea, he came to regard his creation as so perfect that he fell in love with her.
This story is the basis for the more modern story of Eliza Dolittle in "My Fair Lady". The play is about a phonetics professor's efforts to refine the speech and manner of a cockney flower girl for life among the gentry as a platform for social critique, demonstrating the artificiality of class distinctions in turn-of-the-century British society.
"Yes, you squashed cabbage leaf; you disgrace to the noble architecture of these columns; you incarnate insult to the English language! I could pass you off as the Queen of Sheba." --Professor Higgins.
I have all too often felt like the cockney flower girl who keeps trying to grow up to be a respected and fine woman.

Mine is partly from the name of my farm - 'Bee Haven'(a story in itself) and partly from an old joke(I remember Liberace telling it) about his first girlfriend(Iknow, he didn't have any girlfriends...), whose name was 'Miss Bea Haven'. And probably because my dh thinks I do misbehave every time I spend money at an auction, thrift store or antique store! LOL! :D

Well, let's see..
I'm a Kentucky girl. "Ky"
My husband used to play in an Irish band (like a folky U2), and the singer (who was from Ireland) would always say, "Hay Guuurl" with that brogue, only for whatever reason it wasn't hot, it was peculiar and got on my nerves, so my whenever Jus is feeling cheeky, he calls me "guuurl" which makes me laugh out loud, and thus, was chosen and shortened to "Gurl"(s)
I think Kentucky girls are great--I think Kentucky is great, therefore, I say, that the feminine population of Kentucky is best, hence "RBest"

My user names is the very first one I ever had back when the internet first came about. I like cats and I forgot where I got the charm from but it just stuck. : )
I would like to change my screen name at some point....Something fresh and new.

Well, although I am moving from this island (and the beach) in 2 weeks, I am a Beach Girl who loves to feel the sand in her toes. I love the mountains and other areas but I am truly a beach girl.
However, living at this beach has not been nearly as enjoyable as visiting it was.

There are so many Cabin Creek and Cabin Creek Farms out there .. i wanted something unique to me and my honey here. xo

Mine is sorta obvious. When I did daycare in my home for many years the kids all called me Aunt Jenny, since I always had at least one neice or nephew who called me that..it stuck. Besides..it sounds better than chunky animal lover..haha

I've replied to this question a couple of times, but I'll stick it here too. I grew up in Northern PA, Amish country with a hippie mom. I got "accidently" transplanted in the city in MD when my mom remarried, and studied Great British literature and art. I met my daughter's best friend's father, who is born and bred Eastern Shore waterman and farmer. He called me a "chicken necker". Here, that's a cut down, because the crab bait of choice for locals is bull lips (eww) and yuppies from the "other side" (of the Bay Bridge) use chicken necks. Once he got over my "English" accent and realized I was a real country, hippie chick, he "accepted" me, lol and has been helping me out by giving me the rules. Like, "we don't use turn signals, you'll know iffen somebodies turnin cuz they hit the brakes" Now Chicken Necker is it!
I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon |

i picked the user name "frannie" because i was pretty naive(dumb) about the computer and didnt even know what a user name was. most folks call me fran, but my dh has always called me frannie. when i picked that name, i didnt know our other frannie, and it was so confusing to me when i read her post cause i would think , when did i post that? anyway, if i had to do over i would have called myself texas frannie, cause i'm embarrassed to say i still sometime get confused when i read something about fran/frannie cause i dont know who their talking to or about.....course, people that know me know that alot of times i stay confused

Well, mine is certainly obvious. I'm married to Phil Actually, Phil's older brother is married to an Anne, and I could be called #2 or Phil's Ann. Like Country Lawyer (and I do like your name!) I'd change it now, but this was also the first forum I'd been on and was stumped.
