Dicks Sporting goods had a Northface jacket for 29.99! I thought wow great deal. Here I went to check out and the lady said 99.99!!!! WHAT. Oh that was tagged wrong. I said that's false advertising :-p Aren't stores supposed to give you the price that it was marked. It's their fault. I know it wasn't a customer that marked it. GRRRR

I know that if they advertise it in writing, they have to sell it to you for that price. But I don't know about mis-marking. I'd go over her head to someone else, too. Maybe you should have asked for the store manager right then and there.

Yes, they are. I worked in retail and they price marked is the price paid. This happened to me once when they advertised down feather blankets for $40. They tried to charge me $120. I showed them the sign and they gave it to me at the $40 price tag. I would have said that is the priced marked and let me talk to your manager. I too would shoot a letter off to the company.
I always liked Dicks Sporting Good..hmmm!! : (

Kohl's would give you that price AND a bag of chips. Well, maybe not the snack, but they definitely stand by their marked prices....most retailers would.

Kohl's Department store is really great (to a fault) about customer satisfaction. When I worked there part time, before we got married, a woman successfully returned 4 snow tires that she argued were purchased there as a gift. They gave her $250 in a store credit to make her go away. Duh.

I worked retail in the past as well. They are supposed to give you the marked price, in this case the $29.99 price. Next time demand to see the store manager. If he/she refuses to sell it to you for that price, make sure to note the date, time and their names, and call/email your state attorney general, and copy the corporate as well. Follow through on it too. On a similar note: I was at Target on Friday night and they had "40" watt CFL light bulbs marked on their little price signs (in fact, several of the signs)for $0.87. Knowing it was probably mis-marked, I grabbed one of the little price signs and all the bulbs (six) they had sitting there. When I got to the check out, they rang up at $3.83 each. He had to give it to me at the $0.87 price. So, now my son's lamp that sucks up the old incandescant style, now are fitted with CFL's, and I have an extra one to use on something else. It was meant to be, because I had just thought to myself a day or two before that I wished I had the spare cash to replace them with CFL's before all of the incandescants needed to be replaced.
Don't miss out on a blessing, just because it isn't packaged the way you expected. ~MaryJo Copeland |

I worked retail for years and agree, the price marked is the price that has to be charged. Always argue it! My mom, 2 daughters, and myself once got us each a pair of Birkenstocks at Parisian for only $120!!! We didn't have to fight, the manager said "Our mistake, enjoy your shoes." At that price, we enjoyed them even more!
