I have only had 3 periods since Nora was born in March. Each time has had horrible cramping associated with it- like early stage labor type cramping. So...experienced moms....please tell me the cramping lightens up again?

Well, I had a lot of problems pre-pregnancy and post pregnancy and I had to go in and get a Provera presciption because mine was so bad..

Ok- this is going to get TMI- so turn back now if you are squeamish....

I had LARGE clots- like just think really big- coming out in excessive rates and the cramps were killer. I was changing my tampon AND pad every hour. Walking helped, ibuprofen, heating pad and the Provera.

Since then, I have had a lot of trouble with my menstrual cycle but again, I always have. Mine are sometimes non-existent, as in less than 24 hours start to finish and then I get the really bad cramps and HEAVY bleeding. I hope you get to feeling better.

I am looking for some wisdom on this too.

Cheers,
Heather

I actually had strong cramps with my cycle before pregnancy but after my first pregnancy the cramps are very light with each cycle. One recommendation is Red Raspberry leaf tea. It isn't just for during pregnancy but also for all female problems. I'd recommend at least a cup a day and then two or three during your period. It should help the cramps a bit. That's all the advice I have, except for a heating pad. If it is really painful you may want to check and see what the doctor recommends.

alee- did you know that after every pregnancy your periods can change and the symptoms you get
i went from a five to seven day period to a three to four day period after i had the girls. nursing made me skip alot of periods between the girls and so i ended up pregnant without knowing it

heather-if your having clumps and blood clots like that i suggest you go see your obgyn cause it could be something serious especially with the heavy flow. get yourself checked out, it will also help with your piece of mind.

Thanks Lavendar girl- the Doc took a peak and said "Oh it's normal!!" YIKES!!! So, now I am lookig for alternatives. The clotting had decreased alot in 2 years, but when I do get my periods, they seems to come like a tornado!! It just makes me feel so icky!!

Cheers,
Heather

have you thought of getting more excercise and continuing to drink red raspberry leaf tea (except if you get pregnant again-avoid it during the first half of your pregnancy). Sounds like you need some uterine toning and that will do it.

I had clots like Heather described also plus the terrible cramps, after each of my four pregnancies. I was freaked out the first time it happened, but my doc said it was normal for a couple of months, but if they continued to let him know. The clotting stopped after a few months, but the cramps continued, but decreased, as long as I was nursing.
