As I got out of my car in a mall(yes, the first time I've gone mall shopping in YEARS!), something told me to call my ds and wish him and his girlfriend happy new year. He didn't answer, so I left a message. About 30 minutes later, as I was holding a couple of sweaters in my hand, my phone rang. I flipped the lid and cheerily said: "Happy New Year to you both, Doug!" To which he answered: "You, too, mom. And I have some good news! We're engaged!" I cried. Happy tears. Almost on my new sweaters! I'm not a crier, so I was surprised at myself. And she has the cutest three year old little girl named Ellie! I think 08 is going to be a GOOD year! If it's good for them, it's good for me! So I'll be needing advice on this 'how to be a good grandma' thing. How about it, Nancy Jo??? Mary Beth??? Calling all grannies!? :D

Janice,
How exciting for you! Put those antique paper dolls away quick. You will have a lot of fun. Such a cute age. Will they all be nearby?

Yup, Nancy Jo. She is now living in Cincinnati. But, sadly, she and her parents do not get along. And her friends are Doug's friends, so she is coming here! I told her to tell Doug that we'd give them six acres to build a house on in Irvington! :D We laughed! Country life is the worst nightmare of my poor, tech geek ds! ROFLOL!

Well Grammy, have fun. Good age too. Too funny about City Boy but ya never know he may well turn into country boy---if you have your way--haha. MB

Janice, you already have all the qualifications for being a good Grandma. You earned them with your tears of happiness and joy at your Instant Grandmahood. No worries, your heart will show you the way.

I am a 5-time grandma from my DH's daughter and son, and trust me, a three-year old girl named Ellie is going to steal your heart totally. Sounds like she's going to be a lucky little girl, too.

One word ... ENJOY!

Being a grandma is LOTS better than being a mom! I love my kids but the grandkids are a heckuva lot more fun! I spoil them rotten then leave it to my daughter to keep them straightened out. I've told her I'm on my g-kids side so don't look to me for help...within reason of course.

Congratulations!

Winona :-)

Being a Grammie is just the all time best thing. I have two grandbabies, one is 8 months and lives 7 houses down the road and another one that is just 5 months old and lives about 15 miles from us. I have enjoyed these wee ones so much. I know you will have a wonderful time being a grandmother. These little ones are so much fun to sew for, knit for and kiss on !
