Took a few pictures in my upstairs room. I love my old rocking chairs, both from the 1800's. You just wish you could see how they were used and who sat in them. My three handmade dolls that my sister had made for me by someone in South Carolina. and a couple of my quilts. Been working on that room up there, changing things around, seem to be going more toward a country primitive look. I think Aunt Wilma and Hannah threw me over the edge.And Lea! I will be looking for all different stuff at the thrift now. Well it is a new year, and I love playing house.

Oh Nancy its pretty, Have you ever done any primitive painting with butter milk paint,, I have been doing some and am pretty good at it but I couldnt compare with Hannah and Arts work.They were probably the best in the buiness. I would like for you to look up Early Country Antiques on the google search, it is the one that says something about treen ware, I know a lot of those girls and you will find some of the best shops around, go to Kindred spirts after you pull it up, tell me what you think Miss wILMA

Well that was fun, what a lot of nice things to look at. I will go to the bank tomorrow for a loan.HA! That was a real nice tour of a lot of great sites. I will be going back for more ideas.

Thought you might like that,Did you ck out OLD gLORY ? lOOK AT ALL THE PAINTED FURNITURE. You would never believe the prices.Their work is good but no better than Hannahs and Arts.And lots of difference in the prices to. Did you go to The Primitive Home place? I am telling you it is like a step back in time. When you go to her click on the friends block page, She has around 50 shops listed. wg

Just took a peek at your room, Nancy Jo & I love it. That redwork quilt is just beautiful. Hope you will post some close ups of those blocks. And do share your prim finds. During my recent treasure hunts, I found a hogscraper candlestick and an ancient iron muffin tin that I'm using for buttons. They are prim perfect ~ I'll try to get photos this weekend. Every time I see your finds, I just want to jump in the car and go!
Miss Wilma, I am just dying looking at those shops. How inspiring! I've it bookmarked so I can go back for more. So glad you shared this.

I loved your photos, as usual. We have two old rockers, too, and one belonged to Tom's granma, which would make it our daughter's great and our granddaughters great-great. Wish I could say I had something from my great-great grandparents!
Your remark about loving to play house - I always tell my hubby I love to play house, always have and always will. Isn't it fun? Like a little world of fun to change things, and clean and make everything look nice.

Yes playing house is the best. I had three playhouses when I was little.one in the barn, and one off the back porch, and one in the middle of the yard that looked like a small barn. My dad bought it for me from a display someplace. They were all fixed up real cute.

Nancy Jo, I used the basement to play house when I was a kid. It was warm and safe there. Mom hung the sheets to dry in the winter down there, so I would make "rooms", using the sheets as walls, and play house. I also had many weddings, using old lace curtains for our gowns and veils. I had a little kitchen set, with a stove and sink, and many baby dolls. I loved to play house!!! We are kindred spirits in that regard! :)

Nancy, I love the redwork quilt also! *I am just learning to do embroidery. I have done counted cross stitching for many years and also do some chicken scratch but never embroidery. I love it.
I also love the rockers. They just make a room feel so "homey".
I bet our grandma's never dreamed we would someday treasure them so much.

Joy,
You will love doing embroidery. You can do it on about anything. I love the redwork quilts too. You can make a redwork pillow to start. I have done a few in other colors like blue. So that would be blue work.
Jeanie, In the bad weather my playhouse was in a very large closet in an extra bedroom. We had seven bedrooms at home so wasn't much hanging in that closet. I used to take flour and water up there and make cakes. I must have made a big mess, but don't recall getting yelled at. Maybe they were just glad to have me out of the way and in a closet. HA.

Joy, Nancy, anybody ... what is chicken scratch? I was just at the fabric store tonight and someone told me about an apron with chicken scratch across the bottom. I had no idea what she was talking about ???

Lea, it is work done on gingham and has sort of a lace look. I have several aprons that have chicken scratch on them. I will try to take a picture to send you.

Nancy Jo, I'm my way to google chicken scratch. I don't know what it looks like, but I love the way it sounds. And, by the way, I love to play house too. My Mom bought me a bowl for Christmas and it took me all day to rearrange the kitchen so that I could put that bowl in just the right spot. But I had so much fun and everything looks so fresh & new ... Oh the joy that one little bowl brought!

Nancy I have my grandmothers rocker and her little red high heel pincuchion, I really do treasure them, Seem like the older I get the more I think of herOut of her herd of grand children I am the only one that took after doing things the way she did, I have had so many ask me for my recipe for making apple butter I say I dont have one its like my grand mother did.
