Does anyone else do this? I try to make a list of goals I want to accomplish each year and the steps I need to take in order to reach them. Most years they fall by the wayside but this year I thought I'd share some of mine in an attempt to be better at keeping them. I'd be interested in seeing some of your's too, if you'd like to share.
Here's some of mine:
1. Make healthier choices for body and soul. (i.e. diet, fitness, exercise, and try to stress over less.)
2. Simplify .. living a less hectic life (save money, manage time better, and get better organized)
3. Be more understanding and considerate of others (Be a better listener, handle constructive criticism better by not getting defensive, and try to help others by volunteering more)
4. One that I almost forgot is to blog more often, I want to try to do an average of at least two entries a week.
I hope everyone has a fun and blessed new year ahead!

My "usual suspects" aren't on there this year, Lainey--and for good reason. They're just silly common sense things that I SHOULD be doing already!!!!
My very cursory list so far is thus:
* savings, savings, savings...put money away, even if it's only ten bucks.
* live more simply--many things I have or buy, I don't need
* live even more green (i.e, really tackle my cleaning stuff and see how I can be better)
* recycle even more (those guys who pick it up every Wednesday will LOVE me)
* make more garden space
* complete house projects
* take more time for little pleasures in life (like long walks in the woods with husband and dog clan)
* do even more community work

The things I have always thought I need to do I have found to be superficial (lose weight, etc). I died last year and when I was given another chance my list changed dramatically! this years list...
-make sure my kids know exactly how I feel about them -travel more, more, more -adore my husband even more -do what I need to for myself (taking time to exercise, read, paint my toenails, etc) -speak my mind -stop wasting time on unimportant worries
Godt nytar! (happy new year)

My New Year's resolution list goes like this:
1) live each day like I am dying - per the Tim McGraw song & having had my "near death experience" 2) tell my daughters "I love you" each day, even if it means I send a text message to my oldest 3) learn how kayak, quilt, garden and all of those other items listed on the farmgirl sisterhood list (I want to earn as many badges as possible) 4) simplify all of my belongings so my family doesn't have to deal with stuff if something happens again 5) go back to school to earn my master's degree
There are more items...but those are my headliners.

My goals are:
Lose that last twenty five pounds Get out of the house and meet more people (I am too much of a homebody and painfully shy) Quit smoking-for good. No lame excuses to start up again! Save more money/be thriftier. (I don't do this enough, but am learning) Shop more "green". I started late last year, and have learned a lot over this year. This site has helped a lot. Sometimes it is a challenge. Sew more garb instead of buying it. (I work at the Ren Fest here in MN) It can be spendy. Finish some home improvements I have been meaning to do, and have the stuff to do it with. (Just don't have the motivation.) Be a better Mom. Some days I feel so inadequate. I am sure there are others, but this is what I thought of off the top of my head.
Don't miss out on a blessing, just because it isn't packaged the way you expected. ~MaryJo Copeland |
