I've signed up in the past week. I was told by a lady here locally that she got accepted in about 2-3 weeks. Yeah, it's a huge community for crocheters and knitting I believe. You can also join groups started in your home state, free patterns for just about every nice quality yarn you can think of. It's kind of like a community that allows you to enter your projects and materials used so that others can see what's been done with those particular fibers.
Very cool concept..can't wait to get in!
Just went to see what my status is...pretty cool how they have it set up..here's my current status:
You signed up on December 6, 2007 You are #67294 on the list. 4298 people are ahead of you in line. 2848 people are behind you in line. 90% of the list has been invited so far
I think they are sending out 500-800 invites a day.

I got my Ravelry invitation lastnight..so I'm in now. I've got to learn more about knitting. Crochet came so easy to me but reading the Knitting patterns and remembering the stitches hasn't come as easy. I have found a local yarn shop and the owner will give me the initial lessons and then I can come in anytime she has spare time and have her help me along (for free). So that's very nice of her I thought.
