I am just curious if any of you gals know of good diets or food management? I mean I LOVE to eat, and I eat fairly healthy. Only on occasion do I have fast food or junk food. But I tend to not exercise, I am active and not over weight but I have a lil pudge here and there...5'2 125-130. But I'd love to get under 120 for a healthy weight. I am curvy too, got me some hips thighs butt and bust. Any tips for me? I just get bored with exercise. Being active I love.

I have to excerise because I am Diabetic type 2
I have always tried to excerise
I do straightening excerises with a 2 lb. dumb bell
I use to ride on a sationary excerising strenthening bike
But, my knees are really bad now.
I cannot walk out side or for that matter inside due to my bad knees , and tendcy of falling.
I cannot do those water execises egither because of other personal conditons and diseases
I am on a high protien dite
I am doing part of the Attakins protein dite
I drink their high protein shakes ( they are really good , yummy !!)
and I eat their high protien bars , most all of those are good as well,
I have noticed that my nails are a lot stronger then they were
I had that bone dencedency test done
I am 53 in Feb.
The Diabetic Doctor was surpised that with all of my disases and condtions that my bones are as healthy ; if not more so as a 20 year old woman's.
That surprised us both
I think the Attakins protien dite is good for me
I am ganing more muscle tone than I ever had
People who haven't seen me for a while
Look at me . and say "Wow , you have lost a lot of weight"
well, actually, I have lost some; but, My muscle tone is better;
which means, that my body tone appears that I have lost quite a bit
I don't go all the way Attakins though
Just adding more lean protein, fish , and
I was told to take 3 capsuls -- which is 1000 each of fish oil tables,
these are huge
another pill added to my allread 8 pills plus pain medicne
I feel like a walking drug store at times.

I second the Atkins diet. Done properly, the diet is all about green leafy vegetables, squash, onions, even tomatoes. It's not "the all meat diet".

And this sounds bad, but the most awesome workout video (for days you just can't get outside) is Carmen Electra's Strip to Fit. There's nothing "naughty" about it except the name, I swear! :D

You don't have to exercise rigorously, like going to the gym 'to feel the burn'. Going for a brisk 30 minute daily walk, five days a week, will do you a lot of good. It's low impact, but a good aerobic workout. You can even incorporate extra steps during the day by parking your car further away from the store, maybe trying taking the flight of stairs instead of the elevator...for example. Choose foods that are as close to the natural state as possible. The Atkins diets sounds good. The more colorful the veggies and fruits are, the healthier. Everything in moderation. Don't deprive yourself a treat every now and then.

I am a firm believe in exercise too. I do a Pilates work out for 20 minutes, then 5 "Thin thighs in 30 days" exercises and end with 5 "Flatten your Stomach" exercises. I only eat 3 healthy meals a day, no snacks. I've been able to firm up my stomach after I had baby number 3 at the ripe old age of 43! I also love taking walks every day, weather permitting. Rethink your not exercising, it is the best way to lose inches!

I use to walk ; but with my legs, and feet and other body parts getting numb , I don't walk
Another reason to is the neighborhood is a bad place we live in
When we move back to the country and on a farm
I will try to walk there
I agree; you don't have to be vigrous with your excerising
Try some of those strenghening excerising.
I use a 2 lb. dumbell.
Maybe go to a gym and ask some one to teach you some of that type.
One of my internet friends has a treadmill
I tried one out one time at Sears.
I almost killed myself .
Good thing Hubby was with me
I don't have enough strengh in my feet
He said,"get off that dang thing before you get hurt:"
But, my internet fiend loves hers
Good luck .

Mima- could you give us a run down on your diet? I was a vegetarian for some time but would like to take it further. Thanks.

Cheers,
Heather

I just posted a private e-mail to Mima asking the same things Heather ask for. I have been told that vegan diet is the best for most medical problems and will prevent us from developing illnesses.

Thanks again, Mima

Hi! So glad you asked!
For breakfast I usually have a piece of fruit! I was just drinking green tea with it but I truly missed my coffee, and a girl can only be soo good! So now I have a little coffee with soy milk!(love the Silk brand)
Lunch is dark leafy greens with a cup up apple on it, and some baked tofu or whatever's left over from dinner with Annie's Goddess dressing on it!(love that stuff!!!!!)
Dinner could be anything-the possibilities are endless!!! Lentil or Split pea soup, stir fry with tofu, bean burritos, spagetti, veggie burgers with baked sweet potato fries etc!!!! So easy to be vegetarian now! Your local natural food stores have some amazing products!
Google "free vegetarian starter kits "and you can sign up and receive tons of free info and recipes! Good luck, happy eating and hugs!
